High Output Lamp for e2e - e2d?

Hi,

I'm buying an e2d Defender but I want to boost the output to P61 levels (or greater, runtime is not an issue). Can anyone advise on a suitable bulb or mod?

I'm not an engineer/machinist so the mod would probably need to be drop-in or done by a pro.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Welcome to CPF, Dave!

There was a mod (ified) P61 lamp available from This_is_Nascar a couple of years ago. It involved cutting away the reflector and required a spacer washer. Hopefully someone else will chime in with more details.

Welcome to CPF Dave Huck, and why dontcha stay awhile!

That sounds like the two most likely possibilities. For me, the whole trimming the lamp sounded like too much to do, so I got an E2C and an M2 bezel (you could also use a C2 bezel, or even a G2 if you don't mind the mismatch) and voila it's done.

THe other way is more elegant, but gets very hot very fast, while the M2 bezel is intended for high output lamps, and is fine.

welcome again,
daloosh

Thanks for the info (and the warm welcome!). I'll be carrying the e2d while wearing a business suit so I'd prefer to keep the e size bezel. Maybe I'll contact This_is_Nascar about a modded lamp unit.

What's the overall length of the entire light (base: E2e) using an E2C adapter + the shortest bezel available that fits the adapter? Also, where else can I get an E2C, lighthound is out of stock. Thanks!

It looks as though Lighthound is only out of the Doug Speck version, he has cheaper Blk and HA adapters that are showing as in stock. He's even selling a Blk one on ebay:

I think McGizmo also makes an adapter. See the final pic in this thread:

There might even be one left on this thread on the B/S/T section:
