Hey, so far I'm winning! My guess is that "odour" won't stand the test of time here though.

Odour, dammit! (british spelling) I love spelling the British way! Oedema not edema! Oesophagus not esophagus! And flavour not flavor! You Americans may control popular culture in Australia but you'll never take my spelling from me! Never! Neverrrrrr!

Ah, British spelling with its quaint superfluous vowels.

We can still blame the Brits for absurdities like -gh (ex: brought, through) and -oul (ex: would, could, should). There are too many other offences against spelling to list.

There's the alphabet - with its ambigious vowel sounds (how many different sounds does E make?) and some duplicates like C, K, & Q.

I'll agree that the American habit of using a Z in -ize is annoying (ex: exercize, amortize).

English is such a terrible language, but it's the only one I know...

I most definitely favour the english flavour!
Excelling in spelling requires much rote memorising, and
I would never dream of criticising someone for their mistakes
(being french, I make a sufficient number myself! ),
but then again manoeuvring skilfully through the meandres of
mediaeval spelling is such a fun programme!

Hmm, let's see what words I didn't manage to place in that tirade?
centre, judgement,defence,dialogue,equalling,analyse ...

One english letter clouds every thing. In the US the letter is pronounced Zee while the british islanders go with zed. I do not understand that at all. If they were using the military terminology it would be zebra. Oh well!!

The Yanks have taken over in Canada. In the weeks after the Air France crash not a single Canadian reporter said "aeroplane". And Microsoft only has the US spelling checker in the copies of Office sold in Canada. I'm surprised odor only beat out odour by a ratio of 2 to 1. I expect it to be much higher.
