I don't think they're allowed on CPF (at least they weren't on the "old" CPF).

Some people find them annoying.

Animated .GIF files used as avatars is a CPF no-no; please try and pick a non-animated .GIF or a .JPG to use. Maximum size 80x80 pixels, and nothing that's the least bit sexually suggestive - including cartoons and anime.

I don't have the option to load an avatar, have you changed one recently?

After reading this thread I remembered I had an animated avatar and deleted it. Now I can't seem to find where to upload another one.

What type of animated avatar are you looking for? I used to collect animated gifs awhile back.

This really isn't accurate. Animated avatars are fine... as long as they are within the rules. I am working on getting the old rules posted (not that anyone ever reads them anyway... ) but for now, here is the official CPF rule on avatars...

"80 X 80 max pixels! No wider. No taller. And anything over 20K is too much. This is not up to negotiation. Animation is fine as long as it's not flashing and winking and blinking and strobing and generally distracting to the other members of the board. If people are scrolling through your posts just so they don't have to look at your avatar, what have you accomplished? In addition, nudity (whether partial or full) and/or pornography are not appropriate for this forum. This applies to animation and anime also."

At this time, I have not enabled the upload of avatars to the CPF server. And it seems that with this software, that is the only way to have an avatar in your profile. Those who had avatars with the other software, had them transferred over. If you've tried to change your avatar since the conversion, you'll have to wait until I enable that function. I haven't enabled it yet because I am waiting until we are permanently moved to what will be our final server box. We're on a temp right now and I don't want to fill that one up with avatars.

Patience.

Yea, I recall some HUGE avatars that made me laugh when CPF came back online.
I was glad they were not animated too.

Thanks for clearing that up Sasha:thumbsup: I was hoping a simple animated avatar was OK.
Believe it or not, I ACTUALLY DO read the rules and FAQ. (if they were there, that is).
As for getting features turned on, all in due time. We're sitll gettin our butt wiggled down into the saddle here...........

I'm sure small ones are fine. You could always make your own if you can find a free GIF animator program. It is time consuming however.

I made this myself a long time ago. It was inspired by LED museum
