I am just curious as to what the modders work areas look like.
Here is a few shots of my area and a mod to my sister in laws brinkman 2D 4 led flashlight.

Well, you asked.....

It's not as bad as it looks. I just have a terrible habit of leaving things where I last used them. At any particular moment I can find at least 3 square feet of usable bench space. Sometimes more.

Don't do much in the way of flashlight modding but lots of other work goes on here:

And no, before anyone asks it's usually not this neat. Notice my long-term Q3J test Luxeon (~15,000 hours and counting so far) in the upper right of the first picture between the two shoplights.

Looks like we have the same desklamp, gadget_lover. :D

Nice spaces! I wish I had that much room.

Mine is really not that neat. Hence the closeup shot. I will take some more of the clutter later.

All right, you asked for it. Just keep in mind that I'm in the middle of half a dozen dirty projects, plus cleaning out the garage, so it's as messy as it gets. All the photos were taking from roughly a central location in my basement, panning to the left.

Right wing of bench, with grinders, small drill press, and scrollsaw:

Left wing of bench, with vise, RR track anvil, shelf of saws, and arbor press:

Table saw (being used an an assembly bench in the photo), shelves, and big drill press I'm restoring:

My 1944 KR Wilson 25-ton hydraulic press I'm restoring:

The milling machine and some shelving:

Larry,
Like the lathe and mill - Mill a Jet? What kind of lathe is that (ONE day, CNC will make it to the KC2IXE household)

Larry--

WAIT a minute...I don't remember your mill be CNC? Did I just miss that or have you upgraded for your new project?

And is that a broom in the picture? How can you be a pig if you own a broom?

The mill is a 2J vari drive Bridgeport with DRO and power feeds on the X and Z. It's running on a 5HP rotary phase convertor. The lathe is a new Kent 13 X 40 with AC variable frequency drive, DRO, and 5C lever closer. It's happy on 220V single phase. I'm still collecting tooling. :D

Well, I am bumping this due to the upgraded mod hideout in my basement.

Sophie on the rug keeps me company.

This spot to the left of the drill press needs a lathe to fill the space. :) Soon.....
