4X SX1K is the cheapest way to fly with a miniquad of your own folks.
I have done a 4X SX1K and love it!

Contact b2eze, or modamag for the needed heatsinks for it to build a great 2c lithium ion, or 6c nicad/nimh backyard buster with.

For outdoor use, one can go with a TV1L emitter on an osink.
I have used a 3c and a 3D magmod at work with a TV1L and lived to post to this day.

What does the tint of a TY0K look like? I just took the head off my q3 and found that it's a SX1L. If it replaced it would i still be safe using rechargables?

Yes.
In fact I'm running a Q3 with the boost circuit bypassed and the lithium ion battery direct driving a UYOK.
A TYOK has a somewhat sky blueish to hid bliush tinted white that is quite a dazzler to show to your friends.

The YO bin has a rather large range of possible variations. It can have a very pleasing white with a hint of blue, or almost totally neutral white bordering the XO bin, on the good end of things to distinctly blue/green or just plain "should have been labeled an X1" on the bad end.
YO is my favorite bin. I've put about a dozen of them in my own flashlights. Only been disappointed in 3, including a UYOK that is more like a TX1:mad: but overall they've been outstanding. It is however, still a lottery.
btw, TYOK will be fine in the Q3 with rechargeables.

Oh yeah...PP sent for 2 TYOK.

Re: Sale on Lux IIIs -- Emitters and Stars

I've recived my TY0k and it's actually very white and i dont see any blue in it at all. My old SX1L was an incandecent warm yellow. I like the new tint but the brightness gain isn't nearly as much as i had hoped. The brightness gain is hardly noticable. Maybe i had an over achieving s bin. I dont have any other real luxeons to compare against. I have an mxdl but those things use clones that are unbined so the comparison is useless.
