Guys, my mn03 have blown up prematurally, not 1 not 2 but 4 of them.
Is this bulb that unreliable?
anyone else have this bulb failing all the time?

Make sure that you're not running the batteries down until the light gets dim and red. Halogen lamps last the longest when they are run hot and bright. When a set of batteries begins to noticeably weaken, there's not much lifetime left and you might as well put in new batteries to protect the lamp.

seems strange and uncharacteristic.

Are you touching the bulbs?

What batteries are you using?

How does touching the bulbs reduce life. Could someone explain this to us?

From what I am told, basically your finger oils stay on the bulb. When the bulb is turned on, the heat boils the oil and weakens/damages the bulb. Others can explain in more detail.

Question - did you buy all the bulbs in one go?

Just wondering if it may be a bad batch. SureFire will undoubtedly exchange them for you if you explain what went wrong with them...

If it makes you feel any better I have run at least 20 sets through my E2e on the same bulb so when you get a good one it should keep going.

I can understand your dissapointment though - I hate it when a bulb dies on me.

Good luck - and don't loose faith!

I was thinking the same thing - perhaps the package the bulbs were in [at some stage] was dropped?

I hope that SureFire are taking care of you?

I've EDCed a SF E2e with a MN03 HOLA for over a year now. It's still the same bulb that came with the light. I've dropped this thing on cement and other hard surfaces some many times. The HAIII is showing wear but not the bulb. My bezel has a good chip on it too. Sounds like a bad batch.

I didn't know that running the lamp on low batteries wears it out. I've accidentally done that a couple of times. I will be more careful next time.

Surefire can help you out. I hope you get a good bulb. The E2e just rocks.
