Dorcy AAA With $30 put into it....

Even with an L4 and a couple of PD's, etc. the light I use most is a Dorcy AAA. I use it to make sure my 2 year old hasn't kicked off her covers and also to get dressed when my wife is sleeping.

Here are the mods I did:

1) Added pocket clip from Berol pen.
2) Swapped out LED for Nichia CS U Bin C0 tint
3) Painted back of LED with glow paint and white-out (White out on the other side of the glow paint makes it show up much brighter)
4) Tritium vial added as of last night.

The pocket clip was one of two I saved back for M@G solitaires so unfortunately I have no idea what pen it was from. On a baseball cap, The Dorcy AAA puts out a perfect amount of light for reading maps and the like.

The Tritium vial was from LiteMania. Excellent brightness and size. I ground down a dremel cutoff wheel so the diameter was perhaps 0.3". I then put a groove in the body. It went all the way through so I ended up using some silvered mylar tape on the backside. 12 hours, some masking tape and epoxy later, the vial is very nicely imbedded in the body.

OK, so maybe I only added about $10, but I probably would have been willing to pay $30 for it!

Cool. Your flashlight usage sound exactly like mine. I use my Arc AAA-P (rev 3)
though.

I do have a Dorcy that I upgraded the LED on. I'll have to try your glow paint
idea.
