Time with lights and experience will help you here.
After a while you will be able to spot tints, especially ones you like. You will even develop preferences. I like the W0 tint myself. The W0 tint is nice and white, to my eye. These preferences are very subjective, yet the bin code is assigned scientifically. Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that the potential for variance from the rated BIN is normal. Lumileds seems to do the binning in batches allowing for some variety within batches.
Brightness levels are measurable with a meter, so are the color temperatures for that matter except that a color temperature meter is quite expensive.
It is easier to do this when you have a known sample to compare to.
Have fun figuring out your little puzzle.

Is there any way of finding the bin numbers on an Luxeon III emitter?
I bought a couple from Farnell and they do not quote Bin numbers.
Can anyone help?
