The Darpa lights are currently just prototypes and would cost ~$50,000 to buy them.

It is estimated by Surefire that when they do come out they will be going for about $600-$700.

I don't have any kids (I'm still my only child) but I'd sure like to spend some of their college money on some of these!

It will be interesting to see what they release based on these. By then, at the rate I'm going, 600 or so will seem reasonable for a light!

I guess the appearance of these lights overpower their price.

Yes. I recieved the prior caption from an article from PhotoKing himself.
This information was forwarded to me through the Post Exchange. I tried to get some information through the government side of Surefire and recieved it through the PX.
