Niterider Digital - Regulated Hot Wire?????

Does anyone know if the Niterider Digital lamps are regulated? These are small PAR type halogen bicycle headlights ...

From what I can tell, it must be. Providing 3 different light levels almost requires it. The highest setting might be direct drive, but maybe not.

If you had three levels of light, that wasn't regulated, then it's not conserving power. In other words, you could get different light levels using resistors, but the resistor would be consuming the power that the light wasn't, defeating the purpose.

I have the Niterider Classic it is regulated I belive you can switch between 3 light levels the Digital version is just more updated. Very good light for riding at night or even during the day.

How does that work?
I mean that usually when you drive a incan at a lower voltage and current, the beam color suffers. How bad(?) do you think it is when you are going from 15 watts to 3 watts in power?
