Which is brighter - TerraLux MiniStar2 or BOG 3W drop in?

Trying to decide on what kind of light to get for my dad for Christmas. I'm considering getting him a PentagonLight L2-HA, but I was also thinking of getting him a SF G2 w/BOG 3W drop in for a practically indestructable all around light. But I also thought about "building" him a 2AA Mini-Mag with the new high-dome Ministar2 TLE-5 LED drop in. It claims to put out 40 lumens. Anyone have a comparison?

In my experience, the 3W BOG drop-in blows away the Ministar 2 output-wise. The MStar seems better for overall close-up work, with more of a flood beam, even when tightly focused. The BOG 3W kicks some pretty serious butt, and has a SF-like smooth spot beam w/spill. I have both lights you are considering, and would lean to the G2 with 3W drop-in. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the MStar, but the BOG has more overall usable output for my purposes.
