Are Surefire Incans safe to use in hazardous environments? eg, where explosive gasses may be present.

I couldn't find anything on the Surefire site.

thanks!

I don't think so (but size15 will stop by shortly and correct me :)). I recommend sticking with lights that are approved for hazardous environments. Pelican has a good assortment of those, and they are very good quality lights.

That I'm aware of, no off-the-shelf SureFire is certified Intrinsically Safe for use in Hazardous Areas under CENELEC/ATEX (Ex), FM/CSA, MHSA, etc.

It's not the market SureFire are making illumination tools for.

Thanks for the info. It's unfortunate that I won't be able to use my new 6P for a back-up at work (my 1st SF). I already use a Streamlight at work but I guess I'll have to buy another light for backup. Just gives me an excellent excuse to pick up another torch!
