Just seen and bought at Costco (SF Bay area) today.

from the package:
24 LED
Rechargeable Work Light
H-intensity Illumination
Cool & Efficient Operation
Ergomonic Shape & Grip
Low Power Consumption
Long Working Life

Features:
12,000MCD Super Bright 24 LEDs
Anti-Impact ABS Housing
Anti-Impact Hi-Transparency Polycarbonate Lens
UL Listed AC 7.5V Adapter
12V DC Car Plug Adapter
Nylon Swivel Hook
ON/OFF Switch
3~4 Hours of Lighting after Each Recharge

Charging
Use only the supplied adapters for connecting this light to the power source.
Charging indicator will turn red to green when fully charged.
Charging time is 5~8 hours.
DO NOT leave the battery in a discharged state. Charge the battery once a month if the light is not in use.

Operation use the push button below the lens for ON & OFF mode.
To suspend the light, unclip the hanging hook situated at top rear of light, and hinge it upwards. The hook rotates 360° for multiple positioning.

(includes: light, AC adapter, DC adapter)
price: $19.99

The case is blue about 10"L*2.375"W*1.5"T in size. Plastic is smooth with a few ridges below the plastic clicky button. Basically like a cordless phone of a few years ago. Weighs maybe 6oz. The hook is might be a tad flimsy. Beam looks like a spot from 2' away but closeer up the spot is elongated by the rectangular LED array. Center spot is bright with a darker band and then a thin bright ring. Overall good construction but not fancy.

Seems like a great cool to the touch work light with no cord hassles. Price is good and light seems well made. Beam is uneven but should work fine. Some sort of built in stand would put this over the top.

Who wants to open one up and tell us what's inside and how to use the LEDs contained within!

Cheers
Geoff

A picture is worth a thousand words. Funny, I still can't picture it.

Kidding aside, this does sound interesting.

More details, including the guts, at
Costco Worklight breakdown

The 24 LEDs are simply connected in parallel, but there's a relatively substantial
amount of electronics, presumably to boost the 3.6V battery, and/or to manage
its charging from the 7.5V wallwart or 12V auto plug.

The beam pattern is surprisingly round; almost disappointingly so.

Interesting halo effect to the beam. Odd how it does that with such an array.

I played with one of these. Just didn't put out nearly enough light to justify the size. Also, as mentioned before, it has more of a spot as opposed to a flood light. Not for me.

Also bought this at SF area (Foster City) Costco and got a strange behavior from it. Click on, them must wait 20 seconds to two full minutes before light appears. Once it is "warmed up" it goes on and off instantly.

Does anyone have an idea what causes this?

Tried fiddling with the switch but it did not seem to help.

Sounds like it's defective. I'd just return it on your next trip and get another one if you still want it. I tried one and returned it because it put out a roundish beam like a SL 4AA LED (7), but nowhere as bright. Quite honestly I just didn't think much of this 'worklight' at all.

I've noticed that Costco has dropped the price to $14.99, and that's usually an indicator that they're dumping them from the inventory. I think a Costco buy really flubbed it when they decided to stock that one.
