Back in December of last year when I first saw this forum, I recall that "T" bins were fairly "available", and that "U" bins were harder to find. Now a days although "U" bins are not always available, they are relatively not very hard to find thanks to PhotonFanatic (Fred - I am poor thanks to you :xyxgun:   ).

So, if we follow the typical yield for semiconductors, now that we have more "U" bins available to us, this should mean that ocassionally we should be seeing some "V" bins as well. Yet, I have never seen them for sale. Same happens with the 5W "X" bins - why is this?

My observation is that as Lumileds improves its products, the distribution of bins changes, but the best bin does not get higher. For example, the best bin for the original Luxeon has always been R. The R bins went from being unobtainium to being relatively common even in cheap flashlights such as the Dorcy 3D.
