Macy's Parade accident clobbers spectator

Thanksgiving Parade float clips light pole, knocking streetlight fixture to the ground, hitting spectator(s). The article doesn't tell the whole story, but the TV coverage showed the streetlight sitting on the ground where the crowd was standing.

I hope they're ok...

That must have happened just after we tuned out. We tried to watch it, but my daughter got fed up with all the talking heads and commercials :(

So far there doesn't appear to be any new info, just that 2 people were injured, a lady and a child and that they are doing OK.

It amazes me that the balloon struck the light pole with enough force to lop off the lamp. I've got to wonder how well those lamps are fastened to the poles. From the looks of the fixture on the ground, it looked like a clamp loosened up and it just slid off the end of the horizontal arm, snapping it's wires on the way down.
