And how are you suppose to test your CR123 Q3 with a AA battery if you don't have a AA tube!!?? :thinking:

To test your Q3. Remove the switch and the battery. Drop a single AA in the tube, positive down. The battery will be sticking a little of the way out.

Short the negative end of the battery to the light tube (where there is bare metal at the threads). I used a paper clip. Just touch one end to the battery and the other to the tube. If it lights up then it will work with a single AA tube. I have the new Q3 with the tactical switch and new board and mine worked OK.

Received my tubes today. Fit, finish and function are superb.
9 days to Northern Japan is pretty good.

Now I just have to get some 168s batts...guess I'll be calling on AW after the new year...

I bought some 168s/17670 and 168a/18650 cells from AW. I'm very impressed with the cells and their performance.

Got my tube yesterday, works nicely. Not as bright as with a R123, but I can almost use anything to power the Q3 now.
