I went ahead and snagged one last night on sale for 7.99 at Fry's Electronics.
Much to my surprise, the switch cover is no longer made of that cheesy and easily torn neorubber.
It's now metal.
The leds appear also to be the newer Nichia cs500 CO binned leds just exactly like the ones I modded into an older blue triplex earlier this year.
This little booger is quite bright and useful for just 3 weeny little leds. :)
Brighter than either of my Everled leds anyway. :p

The one I bought over a year ago had the metal switch. It is bright, but sucks down the N cells faster than expected. I'd like a "lens" on the Lenser myself, mine has gathered lint and dust when it was a work light, and the recessed reflectors have tarnished some.

My favorite "MOD" was to take a very large straw, cut it down, then drop it into the light, put the batterys in, put a wire to the tube to the tail of the straw and recap with the tail.... Not waterproof.
