I just received the Proton Pro from Ebay.

LRI, Laughing Rabbit (Manufacture)

Fit is excellent.

The Type III Hard Anodize is excellent.

Hardened Glass Lens with GID o-ring.

Side switch, reverse clickie.

Uses 1AA Battery

2 Watt Cree and single Red Led.

The tint on my light has a very very slight green tint. The corona is off center.

The Proton Pro comes locked in "purchase mode". The light will stay on for a few seconds and then shuts off. To get the light out of this mode just hold down the switch until the light goes to low beam and then shuts off. You will be now what I call "owners mode".

Has Safety Beacons mode, slow beacon, medium beacon, fast beacon and SOS.

Uses PWM. The light will adjust from full bright to low. The Red Led does the same.

Comes with a holster and clip which is a spacer if you want to take off the clip.

In these beam shots of the above lights, I chose a Fenix L1D CE because it has a SMO reflector and uses a 1AA. The Proton Pro uses a SMO and 1AA Battery.

These are the lux readings I got. I am using a Meterman LM631 Light Meter measured at 1 meter. I waited 2 minutes before taking the readings. I am using An Energizer e Lithium in the Proton Pro and a fully charged Energizer Nimh 2300mAh Battery in the Fenix L1D CE.

Very nicely written review, and great photographs, also.

Anyone have any Run-Time charts for this fine flashlight ?

Thank you.

Edited to add:

Never mind. Found This_Is_Nascar's review (with run-times) here:

i've used a proton pro as my edc and at work (i'm looking in people's eyes and throats all the time). i can't recall how long ago i bought it, but it could be a decade (i just turned 65 this week, so my memory is shot).

i've always liked the fact it can use the red led both to illuminate things at night, as well as a low battery indicator. unfortunately, the red light burned out a few years ago, but the white light continues to work well on eneloops.

i went to the photon site today and stumbled across the fact that it's got a lifetime warranty! i guess when the jetbeam rrt-01 i ordered yesterday gets here, the ol' proton's heading back to the shop for a new red led.

btw - anybody know if a 3.7v 14500 will work in a proton pro?

Thank you for the review. It finally persuaded me to order one. It arrived today and I absolutely love it. I think this one is joining my EDC rotation.

I have ordered another one with the 15% discount photon light were offering a few days ago and made plans to get some more next month as back ups.

How's the switch boot holding up on everyone's light? The one on my Pro model is showing some wear. The boot on my first gen. Proton is totally shot. I suppose I should send it in for a fix. Aside from this it's still a fine light.

Hrm, Looks to me like a super budget offering.

I agree completely. This really is a great EDC light. I still like my more expensive lights but for general use the Proton Pro has it all and in my favourite AA form factor.

I have had mine since 2008 and the boot finally wore off completely. I sent it in for repair and they sent me a new light. Awesome customer service!!

These are not inexpensive, however for the what you receive, I believe it's worth the cost. I have purchased a number of these and usually give them away. I only wish that they would place a brighter LED in there. When these start approaching 140-180 lumens I will be more than happy to carry this as my primary EDC.
