Does anybody have a link or any idea to the king of hid search light, ? Want the brightest and longest throwing hid light.
It should be so strong that when it turns on people gets afraid and calls the Police or something like that if you know what i mean:devil:

Either the Maxabeam Short arc, or the XeVision XV-LX70.
It depends what you want to do with it.
They are like comparing apples and oranges, each is best in its class.

I assume you are looking for a battery powered hand held light.

Maxabeam is the easiest way to get a "throw monster"
other options include custom building something, or the LX-70 XeRay mentioned

Heres pics of mine reaching out a kilometre (I really have to do a different photo, i must have posted this in a dozen threads by now)
the Maxabeam is used in many TV shows and movies for a reason, it throws a 1 degree spot that shows up really well on camera.
(this one is a Gen2, the newer ones should have a slightly higher CP)

I actually have 2 Maxabeams, and i still get a kick out of starting them up, lighting up clouds makes me giggle like a small child

I agree with echo, maxabeam is Def a show off toy.... albeit a costly one, lol.
I pull mine out a few times a month when it's cloudy or foggy and it always makes me smile..... and often enough makes ppl come by to see what it is.

Don't forget the Surefire Hellfighter

Did not forget it, It just is not up to par with other more advanced products.
It's well made and expensive, but on a pure performance basis, its well behind a few other products.
Even a 40 watt Polarion can perform as well as or better than the Hellfighter.

Bump up to ask what is currently happening in hand-held HID.

What brands/makes/models are currently happening?

The links in the sticky topic date way back, years ago, to a bygone era when teenagers did NOT say "I do not know what Led Zeppelin is, I just got this tee shirt from the Salvation Army."

Well, anyway, Who, What is on the current hand-held HID playing field? It looks like XeVision XeRay XV-LX70 is currently a live item.

I am looking for something with power and throw specs that five-pound HID offers; and the XV-LX70 looks not too big and not too heavy considering the throw and lumens specs that it offers.

What (else) is currently happening in hand-held HID?
