And 26 months later it's ARRIVED!! This must be one well traveled light.

I thought I'd wouldn't see it when it went MIA, but it's here now and I'll compare it to my Blue-Label...

If I recall correctly, you did ask to be towards the end... 😝.

Re: Alpha Ready Made with "Icarus" driver Pass-Around

Well! After a crazy around the world tour, the light finally made it to me. I have NO idea how the package ever went to Europe, but I'm glad it made it to me in South America. It happened to arrive before my family and I came back to the USA, and it's a good thing it did! It would have been sitting in a Bolivian Post Office for 9 months before we returned to South America!

The package was beat up and showed wear from its around the world tour, but everything was there, accounted for, and in working condition. The only thing broke was the bottom of the battery container, but that is the least of everyone's worries!

I'm not going to post any videos or beam shots since they've been posted before. I'd just like to give a run down of how it fared in a 'everyday' type use. For me, the size of the light was a bit surprising. It is a good bit bigger then my Olight S30r II and even my Sky Lumen 2. Those are both able to be carried clipped to my front or back pocket and not be too big. For me personally, the Alpha Ready Made is just a bit too big for that type of carry. That being said, I have no problem carrying that sized light in my XS Timbuk2 messenger bag. Ultimately the Alpha will not remove my Beta QR from my pocket. That's my "always have on my person" light. Small, not mighty, but just enough to do what I need it to do or enough to help me find my bigger light!

Aesthetically speaking, the Alpha is a beautiful light. It is pleasing to look at and its machining oozes quality. I opened the package and my wife said, 'oooh that's a pretty light'. The threads are butter smooth and everything just 'fits'. The light has a good heft and solid feel to it. I love the look of my Beta QR, so loving the Alpha was not difficult.

In use, I did not sit down and figure out changing the modes. I know, I know, that's the big deal about the Icarus driver. But I liked the mode it was in. The lowest was quite usable while checking on my little ones in the middle of the night and they never woke up even when the light was directed at their faces :) The beam truly is nice and even. It doesn't have really have a noticeable hotspot. I used it like a bedside lamp a few times just to see how it would be, and the color temperature and brightness were really nice . . . even when bounced off the ceiling.

All in all, for me, this would be an awesome bedside stand light to be used around the house. Not that it can't handle itself outdoors! If I owned an Alpha, I wouldn't hesitate to take it camping and hiking with me either.

Thanks for letting me participate in this pass around! I'm so glad the light turned up. Now here's to hoping I can own one someday.
