$450 has me thinking about it...will probably be able to sell it used for around that price after playing with it for a couple months.

List price is still $600, sale price of $450 only good during one day, release day of June 8th. Likely just throwing those who have been waiting for so long a bone.

I would be tempted but it's just too much of a novelty for my purposes. I have a DX80 and I almost never use it. Granted, I expect the X9 to be superior in every way except max lumen rating but that doesn't mean I'd use it any more than the DX80.

Unboxing video from Olight posted on youtube.

Considering all the hype, the size, the specs and two years of dangling carrots...

Those beam shots aren't too impressive.

I am sure that this item will perform as I think 8 x 18650 behind 6 x XHP70.2 in a four inch diameter reflector should perform.

More power and more runtime than Acebeam X45, both stock to stock and modded to modded comparisons.

Compared to Acebeam X70: Less power, but probably more throw.

This item could be the mid balance point between the X70 and BLF GT.

Because it has more power than the X45 and more probable throw than the X70 and it has lots more power than any BLF GT configuration, I think this light has lots to offer to any complete collection of cutting edge power lights. And lots to offer to any user who just wants only one powerful light in 8 x 18650 behind 6 x XHP70.2 in a four inch diameter reflector configuration.

As frustrating as it has been to wait and in my opinion not get the information we should have, Olight's Quality , can't be beat. May not be the most luments and may not hold Top lumens for to long but it's made safe and is built to last, my collection is with Olight and I found the best out there, for me no other makes it better and they are great looking to boot. There also backing the X9 for 10 years , are you kidding me WOW !!! Sold

Really nice to see a 10 year warranty on this light, so meaning its not something they just sell and move on and 2 , 3 years later if u want a replacement part or if the flashlight goes dead they wont help.... so this light is here to stay for many many years it seems. Also i think they invested a huge time since they first showed this light is that its safe to use and easy as seen on the video.

$450 does seems like a good deal for what you get, even if it's for just one day.

I guess I have to consider all the extras... Remember, it's not just the light itself... it's eight (8) 18650 batteries, a fairly expensive (retail) sealed case, a decent sized power brick for fast charging, a car charger, a nice carrying strap... and quality... Olight is the Toyota (read-dependable) of flashlights in my opinion. Plus the thing will self-proximity-adjust, and it has a pretty cool display for lumens and volts. I'd rather it ramp up, then down rather than cycle, but that's just me.

Really, it's a LOT more than just a flashlight in a brown cardboard box with two spare O-rings! :)

I do agree though, when they were in the $400 range, $600 seems like a bit of a hard pill to swallow.

But I think Hugh is right, That $450 price is for the flashlight-faithful that have been wanting and waiting for this thing for a long time. They've given us one day to pick one up in the price range they were originally discussing, that's nice of them.

I wonder how long the proprietary battery pack will be available. Last I checked the battery packs are unavailable for the SR series lights.
I cannot buy an expensive light that will not be supported in the future.

In stock in the UK, only £600 ($808 to save working out)

Shame, real nice piece of kit this x9r, love the design and build along with the case(presentation side). But $808 is just crazy, no doubt some will sell as someone will always pay, but damn...............I can see £350.

I heard its both $600 and £600 and that they ditched the removable fans. Also 25,000 Lumens for only 3 mins before it cycles down. Honestly all the hype and a big let down in the end. Going to get a DX80 instead.

€350/400 yes. But 600, ohh no! Hope Olight sees this quickly and drops the price. I expect dealers/distributors will have a difficult time selling this.

uh the light is not out yet and u already worry about spare batteries ? they said u will be able to buy them seperate.. and the light will have 10 years warranty doesnt that say it all ? and the SR series are not exactly in production anymore they are old why would they still sell those spares for an old and outdated light`?

Yes, anyone who can think into the future would be worried about the availability of battery packs. I think about that with every light I buy. Will batteries be available in 10 or 20 years? The problem with proprietary battery packs is exactly the same as you pointed out. When the light is old, and no longer in production, they will probably stop making the batteries, and that is a problem for anyone who would want to be able to use this light long term or look at it as an investment.

The 10 year warranty doesn't "say it all". In fact, batteries are a consumable item, and therefore typically uncovered or only partially covered by warranty.

I'm sure you would be able to take it to a battery store and have it rebuilt with new cells. Ive been at a batteries plus store, they rebuild power tool batteries with new 18650 batteries. It's just 8 18650 batteries, as long as 18650 batteries are available I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Even though my SR95 is outdated, it is still a nice useful light I would like to use for many years to come. Any light that costs hundreds of dollars is not something I am willing to give up on using easily. Even if it is because it needs new batteries.

Based on my history with Olight apparently not supporting battery packs with the SR series, I will not buy this current offering. Olight may warranty the light for 10 years, warranty battery packs too ?
I would like to see that in writing about the battery packs included in the warranty.
Warranty a battery for 10 years, a major selling point.

This is still a partial solution and one that would obviously void any possible warranty remaining. Plus disassembling that body tube to attempt to replace the cells inside only replaces the cells. What if one of the switches fails? Aren't those on the body tube? If you can't buy a new battery pack, you're still at the mercy of one set of non replaceable buttons/switches...
