    $13 Duramax

    I never had any conclusive way to measure brightness or throw but it seemed at least twice as bright on a LiON. What happened was the pill got very hot and began flickering after about a minute and the tint browned. The light still works on alkaline although dimmer than it ever was.

    I used to always clip it to the bill of my hat. It also came with a headband to be worn as a headlamp. But it is not really whopping, the VersaBrite II is whopping.

    No. My childhood obsession began with the pelican versabrite. I remember using it many times while camping out on the beach. It puts out a whopping 7 lumens. I still have it and a spare lamp, strangely you can still find them for sale.

    Vote - What is your favorite form factor?

    My favorite is the 9P form factor, 3 x cr123 and P90, most comfortable to hold and use IMO. However 3x anything is not the most practical. If it had to be a pocketable light, then 1AA with forward clicky.

I then tried a 4.2V Lion and it was not any brighter than the 3V but it heated up very quickly and started to melt down. So this light wont handle lion batteries but I may bore it out to run on cr123...

    Re: $13 Duramax at Autozone I bought one of these lights today to put the clip onto my Fenix E11. The clip works great on the Fenix. However this Duramax light out throws both my Fenix E11 and Nitecore EZAA while having a more neutral tint. Does anyone know if this light will run on a lion cell?

    LED flashlight for boat

    My favorite light out on the boat is a large spotlight that plugs into the cigarete lighter. When in the fog I needed all of the throw. I think a light like a TK41 will still scatter too much light. So when it comes to fog there is no replacing a good halogen spot light.

    Importance of light reliability

    Take pictures next time and post them. My surefire 6p with malkoff drop in is my go to light. It has never failed me. I use my nitecore EZAA as a backup.
