The M30 came in a Surefire 6P and surprisingly wasn't blown. I'm using a KP18350 3.7V with no problems so far. The primary cells will work in the MD1 as well but they are a little skinny.

I haven't read thru the whole thread and it may have already been mentioned. But for someone wanting to play around with different single cells the Streamlight 1L-1AA is pretty versatile. It can run on one CR123A, 14500, AA, or even AAA. No spacers or fiddling required, just load the battery and go.
