Need help with rechargeable AA Lithium

Greetings. I believe you are referring to the relatively new crop of AAA and AA format batteries that contain a LiIon cell and a step down circuit to present 1.5V. These usually have a built in charging port and low voltage cutoff. Sadly the few I have tried have been relatively disappointing. I...

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

I realized my key chain flashlight collection was wanting. I ordered a new Prometheus Beta Magnetic on pre-order (still waiting for it). While waiting I also snagged a Nitecore MINI-2. The MINI-2 arrived. The manual and advertising sheets cover most of the high points on this light but I'll add...

    Foursevens Mini Mark II

I would run a simple test. Put the flashlight in "medium" mode with a freshly charged battery. If it trips the protection circuit much faster than 60 minutes I'd hit up foursevens for a replacement battery (yours is defective). It's unlikely (but possible) the light has a flaw but I'm guessing...

    Foursevens Mini Mark II

Short version: You tripped the protection circuit on the battery. Longer Version: Most flashlights that can use both primary and rechargeable single cells will rely on the battery to protect itself from over-discharge. That way they can provide useful illumination with a primary cell down to...

    Foursevens Mini Mark II

Nope. Just slightly warm. I *do* have lights that are literally too hot to touch after about 30 seconds. This one is just slightly warm. It steps down right around that point (~15-20 seconds) and seems to run around body temp.

    Foursevens Mini Mark II

Just took delivery of my new Mini Mark II from the "second wave". Nothing substantive to add on this thread from a "metrics" perspective but I can confirm that it is a wonderful EDC. My first 4Sevens light was the original Mini and I can say without a doubt that this light is a significant...

Olight's New Protected IMR 16340 Cell

When I was a kid in the '70s I was always surprised that you could seem to buy just about anything on the streets of NYC. In the same thread, I am always amazed at the myriad of different sizes, chemistries and configurations available for LiIon batteries. But just when I get complacent, I find...

In a search for a new charger

Second vote for the LittoKala 500. Glitch free so far, fast and flexible. Won't do LiFPO4 or 4.30-4.35 LiIon cells but pretty much everything else. Also works as a power bank to charge cell phones if you need it.

    Foursevens Mini Mark II

Thanks! It looks like there is a metal cap on the positive end that probably contains the circuit. This is more common these days (Fenix cells etc...).

    Foursevens Mini Mark II

Thanks. So the battery sure *looks* the same as a 550maH 5C Olight IMR battery. How sure are you that this battery has a protection circuit? Can you feel it in the negative end of the battery or note the characteristic strap down the side of the battery? I'm just curious. Does is say "built in...

    Foursevens Mini Mark II

I'm curious for folks who have received their lights with battery if you could answer a question. On the FourSevens site David keeps reinforcing that you need a 10C battery and makes reference to the fact that Foursevens "special" battery has some sort of protection. This confuses me. I presumed...

18650 If There Is No Power

So there are a couple of options depending upon how long the power is out :faint:. One option is to keep a power bank fully charged. For me that would be my trusty Chromebook that is basically just a power bank without Internet. You can get a dedicated one or buy a charger that becomes a power...

    Help with Powerex C9000

Perhaps I wasn't clear. With the C9000 I put one battery in at a time and configured it. I was never able to put all 4 batteries in and configure them either individually or as a whole. I don't think the C9000 is designed for that. Your video shows you putting all the batteries in at once. I...

    Weird 16340 behavior, Olight RCR123

Alright, in that case my theory goes out the window. Pretty sure the VC2 doesn't do IFR cells. If it's the VP2 my theory is rehabilitated.:naughty:

    Help with Powerex C9000

I'll dig my C9000 out and give it a try (haven't used it in a while) but my recollection is that this is typical behavior. Seem to recall that you have to program each channel individually (lots of button pushing) even if you want the same setting for all. The order is 1) put the battery in, 2)...
