    They are what's called P60 hosts. The removeable "bulb" units are called P60 dropins and are for the most part interchangeable between the different P60 torch bodies.

    IMO.....get a decent flashlight headand and a light P60 host like a Solarforce P1. You can get good red dropins for P60's that will blow most regular headlamps away. That's what I do - the light can be converted to whatever you want just by changing the dropin. I've got a nice XP-G2 SMO one...

    Brinyte B158. Swap between red, green and white LED units. Adjustable focus. Easy scope mounting. Easily modded as you can get the empty pills from Gearbest and build whatever you want. A dedicated red emitter will generally throw further than a white emitter with a filter.

    You will get the best range with a dedicated red or green emitter. Film gives much less range. Check out the coloured dropins that Customlites builds.

    IMO C8's with an XM-L or even XP-L hi are not awesome throwers. The XinTD C8 V5 XP-G2 from intl-outdoor is $30USD and will throw better.
