LED Light comparison site with thermals and spectrum

@DavidOz 1. What standard do your spheres calibrated against (UL/CE/...?)? Note: I have seen a number of test reports of the same product with multiple spheres and measurements can verify even up go 50%. 2. Are your measurements based on 1 sample or average of multiple samples? 3. Are all the...

Best LED Light Bulb, Cree, Sylvania/Osram?

Check on packaging if they say it's "not for use with dimmers". The Philips dimmable bulbs (remote phosphor ones) work quite well on dimmers in my home.

    OSRAM Parathom 8W LED Lamp

Oops didn't realize this is a 2010 thread :faint: The terms used wasn't clarified so that's why we have confusion. I analyzed the power based on LEDs only without driver. 'Input power': I meant LEDs only (doesn't include driver) 'Lamp power': System lamp power (includes driver)

    Light Angle

Couldn't you use optics to spread the light to achieve larger beam angle?

    OSRAM Parathom 8W LED Lamp

Where/How did you come up with this assumption/conclusion? The property of 1-die high power LED is typically 2.8-3.2V by default. The input power should equal to (number of LEDs)*(drive current)*(voltage of 1-LED). Let's calculate reverse to look at the LED driving condition and conclude...

NanoLight LED Bulb - 4000K at 133 lumens per watt

133lm/W claim is impressive in claim. I'll believe the results when they get DOE to confirm those bulb specs.

Any news on Switch light bulbs

Anyone recall that Switch claims that their cost is lower than competition because they can solve the heat issue with liquid cooling and use less LEDs? $40 for a 60W and such speed in today market is not widely accepted. The reality in price can have 2 possible conclusions: - The actual cost of...

New Philips bulbs 800lm & 450lm bulbs at Home Depot

It is 7.5W on the 450lm one, and 10.5W on the 800lm one. I didn't really care if it was dimmable or not, just to put several in corridor as downlights. Lifetime read 18 years. Good enough for me.

    EcoSmart 6 in. 9.5-Watt (65W) LED Downlight By Cree - $24.97

Hi is the discount ($40 to $25) from in-store instant rebates or utility mail-in rebates? Because I see from San Francisco stores, they're still $40.

New Philips bulbs 800lm & 450lm bulbs at Home Depot

I found new Philips bulbs at Home Depot: a. 800lm 3000K non-dimmable bulb for $17 b. 450lm 3000K non-dimmable bulb for $11 c. 900lm 3000K dimmable PAR38 for $35 or $37 (forgot...) Bought several 800lm bulbs to try them out. Impression: Narrow beam angle, but they are smaller in size than...

    Ecosmart LED PAR38 Lamps

I thought UL only evaluates the electrical safety of bulbs. Documents of lifetime and specs may be required, but I supposed they dont actually test them nor have a standard method of testing. From my experience with LED bulbs (just buy some from Homedepot and websites), most LED bulbs don't...
