    Lucifer S2X headlamp first impressions

Since this has burbled up to the top, I feel like I can offer my almost-two-years-along impressions. This is still my favorite headlamp ever. I got compliments and questions from fellow runners during an all night event recently. The interface feels totally natural, and I wish all my lights...

Tell me about your Lucifer headlamp experience.

@xcandrew -- for what it's worth, I get great burn time out of 18650s. I'm about to run through the night (~13 hours of dark), and can imagine that I won't have to switch to my backup battery pack. (Though I'd be a fool not to have a spare battery...) And regarding other comments about color...

Tell me about your Lucifer headlamp experience.

S2X, here, and it is my favorite headlamp ever. (Follow my links for an early look.) I’m still positive, maybe more so. The interface is awesome, light output is excellent, burn time is surprising. Honestly, the only barrier is price. Edit to note that this thing has gotten a lot of use... it...

    RARE MAGLITES

Erm, that's bound to be me. Sorry I missed your PM -- it wasn't deliberate. So I do have some nib 7Cs...

    RARE MAGLITES

Yeah, I was only reporting on somebody else's purchase. I've got a 6c in the collection already, so that urge is sated. A 7d would be attractive, but it'd have to be a pretty good price to overcome my cheapskate nature.

    RARE MAGLITES

So just for closure, those were 160 and 150 respectively, plus a little shipping. Both were in pretty decent shape. The 160 one sold for its price; the 150 one was 'best offer accepted', so not quite 150 (but, I think, pretty close because of how it sits in a sorted list of completed items)...

Couple of 6c mags on the ‘bay right now. Not cheap, but in the ballpark. **Not mine**

Need recommendation for headlamp for First Aid Kits.

Technically correct, but missed the point by only understanding one element of the story. Plus, we're talking about the Bible, here, which should be in your wheelhouse.

Yup, Lucifer is made in Czech Republic. (edited to correct my earlier geographic error)

Need recommendation for headlamp for First Aid Kits.

If we're broadening to Europe, my fave is by LuciferLights (.net), the S2X. And an aside to @DaveTheDude -- can you link an American made Vont? I see 4 packs on amazon for 20 bucks that say the country of origin is China. Maybe they have multiple lines?

(emphasis mine) ... but since you've painted yourself into a corner, there kinda ain't. Maybe build your own. (Not snark -- you could get some local cnc going, print your own drivers at oshpark, suck it up for the leds, which I don't think are made here...) Maybe look at dental/medical...

    Petzl CRI?

Big Petzl fan, but I doubt you’ll see high cri anywhere in their cheapies. (And maybe not even the expensive ones.) Buy it and try it. REI has a relaxed return policy. Just don’t be like the jerks that abuse it for 6 months and then ask for money back.

    Please Recommend a 4000K-4100K High-CRI *Throwy/Spot* Headlamp

Because of this thread, I checked spotting performance with my 13/20 Lucifer S2X. At 100 meters on turbo, it lit up the reflective tag on a power pylon (and made the pylon easy to see), but I doubt you’d be able to spot a non-reflective paint blaze. That said, if it was me in the woods looking...

Headlamp advice - need new light for running/out door crossfit

For what it’s worth, mine got from Europe to California in about 10 days. (Still super-happy with it. Just — like a couple of weeks ago — discovered that it had a built-in battery meter you could show on startup.)
