    Problem with Quark AA

One of my Quarks came with a flakey switch. 4Sevens replaced the tailcap without any hassle. While I don't want to discourage anyone from contacting 4Sevens and getting this issue resolved, Beamhead posted some awesome pictures on how you can troubleshoot this issue yourself...

is the XP-G R5 worth the price over the XP-E-Q5 ?

I'm really pleased with my new IlluminaTi. I went with the R5, and it was worth it to me. The greater floodiness was worth it to me. I don't need throw in a 1xAAA flashlight. I strongly prefer L -> M -> H. A

Quark 123.2 Were your packaging seals previously opened?

All four of my Quarks came with the original seals intact.

your most expensive flashlight...was it worth the price?

    Quark Ti 123^2. Love it.

Flying with my D10 and eo1

My experience has been that an aluminum 1xAAA flashlight does not set off the magnetometer, even at airports where they're set to be very sensitive. I'd be very surprised if a 1xAA or 1x123 size did either. In a carry-on bag, no flashlight has ever caused me problems. As gbelleh says, I'd...

    New Maratac AA

Re: New Maratac AA $29 Let me start by saying I wasn't trying to hijack this thread or upset anyone who is a Maratac fan. In hindsight I'd have been smarter to post my comment in a comparison thread. You're right. That was nothing less than foolishness on my part. With regard to the...

    A light for the wife

My wife has a Fenix E01 on her car keys, and an iTP EOS A3 Upgrade on her house keys. As far as I know, she always uses the iTP on Medium (it's an M-L-H). If I thought she'd carry a 1xAA light I'd probably buy her the Quark MiNi AA.

    New Maratac AA

Re: New Maratac AA $29 Great job on the review here and the video, Patriot! Thanks! I must confess to huge temptation to get one with my next Countycomm order. Two things keep me from thinking I will: Other than the pocket clip, I'd rather have a Quark MiNi AA. It's smaller, brighter, less...

    Help a dummy decide

The box I have in my hand says "Designed by 4Sevens in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Assembled in China with components from USA, China and Malaysia." As you can see, 4Sevens also is a dealer that sells other lights. I own three Quarks, I'm getting a fourth for Christmas, and I've been struggling to...

Quark AA and Quark AA Tatical clicky?

I've replaced the buttons in all three of my Fenix and all three of my Quark lights with forward clickies. This means I have to pick a mode and stick to it before pressing the button fully for the light to stay on, but it works well for me. I don't need tailstanding and I don't like reverse...

    Strange behaviour in Ti Quark

I own three Quarks and they all behave the same way. In beacon mode, it will ramp up to full brightness and ramp down again. Personally, I would prefer that it just turn on at full brightness and turn off again, but this behavior is normal. In SOS mode, it should be flashing at full...

    Help a dummy decide

:welcome: One thing to keep in mind is that Quarks lumens are rated OTF (Out The Front), and Fenix rates their lights at the emitter. There's something like 30% loss between the emitter and OTF lumens. The R5 emitter will outperform the R4. At any given current it will produce more light...

    Fenix P2D - should I get one?

I have a Quark 123 R2 in my pocket. At home I have a Quark 123^2 R2 and a Quark 123^2 Ti. For Christmas I'm getting a Quark 123 R5 to replace my EDC light. All of them are the standard (non-tactical) models; I've installed forward clickies in each of them. I have access to all the modes...

Please help my new flashlight research

:welcome: CR123A cells are expensive if you buy them retail, no doubt. But they can be had for less if you buy online. The tradeoff with AA is that you get less runtime in exchange for a less expensive, more easily-found cell. You may find that one or the other form-factor works better for...
