    What makes a light "budget"?

If the $125 light has the features/output of a $395 light, it could easily qualify for the 'budget' moniker.

Triple 90 CRI XM-L2 Module on Massive Copper Heatsink Stuffed in 4D Mag

While waiting on the Arctic Silver epoxy to dry, I whipped up a few parts to make this light more cell-friendly. The owner will likely use larger cells, but these additions will make using the ubiquitous 18650 a no-hassle proposition. First, an aluminum insert for the tailspring. This helps...

Adam Savage mods a jetbeam flashlight

I guess he is not a fan of clips on his lights, since he removed the screw holes entirely. A more reversible mod would have been to machine a new switch button cover to the desired height, but that would have been more work. PS: Hey Adam, you may want to have one of the myth-terns clean out...

Triple 90 CRI XM-L2 Module on Massive Copper Heatsink Stuffed in 4D Mag

Triple 90 CRI XM-L2 Module on Massive Copper Heatsink Stuffed in 4D Mag

Thanks, guys ! A friend sent me a flat, polished version of these CUTE-3 optics. There was no measurable increase in throw, and a huge number of distracting artifacts introduced into the beam. Even the narrow versions produce a "wall-of-light," suitable for close and medium-range illumination.
