Interesting ratings. For the 5W devices they list operating current at 1000mA and operating voltage at 4.3V. So... consumption at rated input is 4.3W The 10 Watt unit is rated at 17.2W consumption, but in the image, the die looks like it is phosphor-covered.- chimo

DX SSC P4 (C2-70601) broken - How to remove driver?
Often, those are compression fit. Unsolder the board from the brass cup, then solidly solder a nice heavy gauge stranded wire to the battery contact on the board. Under control, use it to pull out the board. Or, if you don't care about damaging the board - drill a small hole in it and pry...- chimo

Taking off mce board from pill
Unsolder LED. Cut away excess thermal adhesive from around the MCPCB. Apply heat to the pill with a heat gun (or boil in a baggie). It should be too hot to hold with bare hands for the next step but not hot enough to melt solder. Using a flat screwdriver inserted between the side of the...- chimo

I just picked up an Aeropress today. I tried a 2-scoop cup for my wife and a 3-scoop cup for me. It wasn't bad at all - I had even used some beans I ground for the French Press this morning. I am eager to try a fine grind. -
Cure for drowsy long distance driving
Ditto on the comments regarding getting adequate sleep. What I also find that works well for me is not listening to music, but to "talk-type" shows. I enjoy WNYC's "Radio Lab", "TED Talks" or "DNA files" podcasts. I find that they stimulate the brain instead of lulling it to sleep. You can... -
