The thermal regulation kicks in after 3 min. The reduction in output is noticeable, but not really that big. The S65 still puts out a lot of light in the "thermal reduced" mode. If you look at ti-force's excellent review, it looks like the output drops from about 650 lumens to 500 lumens. It...
Re: Beam shots comparing new Neutron to "old" Neutron. Did Thrunite change the Neutro
A few questions for the OP:
1. Is throw significantly increased with the new smooth reflector?
2. Did Thrunite fix the squishy tailcap and wobbly head problems that affected the old models?
Re: JetBeam PA40 (XM-L T6, 4xAA, Carbon Fiber body) Review: RUNTIMES, BEAMSHOTS, & mo
Is the PA40 very stable when you tail stand it this way?
Does it take a lot of fiddling with the lanyard to get it tail stand like this?
I like the runtime and regulation of this light, but I really want a...
Tiggercat,
How was the beam of the ZL SC51 compared to the Klarus? Did the SC51 (rated at 200 lumens) seem pretty close in brightness to the Klarus ST20 (rated at 240 lumen)?
Was the ZL SC51 beam as smooth as the Klarus?
Did the guys at GoingGear mention when they expect to receive the new ZL...
I think another big thing is that all the Quark models use boost/buck circuits (except for the Q123^2, which is buck only). This allows them to have regulated output using a variety of battery types, including rechargable Li-Ion.
I think most of the Fenix PD/LD lights are boost only so won't...
UnknownVT,
Would you be able to post some "Standardized Stairway beamshots" comparing the Quark AA, AA^2, Fenix LD10 and LD20 using NiMH on their highest levels?
wacbzz,
Thanks for the great review and information.
When you took your clip off, did it scratch the anodizing off as some other Eagletac owners have reported?
If not, did you do something special to remove the clip without damaging the finish?
Re: New Nitecore D10 Size Comparison Pic
Darnit. I mistyped my question.
As LED-holic suspected, I do have an older L1D (P4 emitter).
I was thinking of getting an L2D Q5 and putting the head on my L1D body, basically giving me an L1D Q5 (with the flexibility to go back to L2D configuration...
Re: New Nitecore D10 Size Comparison Pic
How does the D10 (using eneloop on maximum) compare to the L1D Q5 (using eneloop on turbo)?
I'm considering getting either a D10 or an L2D Q5 and putting the head on my L1D (like you have done in your pic).
Thanks
Thanks to all who responded. I'm glad to know my light isn't the only one that exhibits this behavior. As others have speculated, I guess it has something to do the regulation circuit.
I just received my new Fenix L1DCE. I am quite pleased with it so far. It is brighter than my L2T and the user interface is very easy and well thought out. The beam is a bit ringy as others have reported, but it actually doesn't bother me as much as I thought it might. I might try some PDA...
Vincent,
Thanks for the feedback. From looking at the pictures, I can just barely see that the L2S is slightly more shiney than the L1T. I doubt any difference would bother me. I am thinking of possibly getting an L2S for use with my L1T. I thought I would try to save a few dollars since the...
UnknownVT,
Thanks for the review. I was a bit surprised that the L2S was only marginally brighter than the L1T (both on high).
How is the finish on the L2S body tube? Does it make a good match with the L1T/L2T head? (i.e. does the color and finish match pretty well even though the L2S body...
I can't comment on the LiteFlux since I don't have one. But I do have an L2T.
The L2T does not flicker in low. I have another light that uses PWM to achieve lower light levels, and I can see the flicker when I shine it on a white wall and wave it around quickly. I see no flicker when I do...
I too am interested in this 3-stage mod. Any estimate on when it will be ready for release?
How will the brightness of each level compare to a stock L1P (on 1xAA) and stock L2P (on 2xAA, assuming you can get it work in this configuration)?
Any chance of selling this in the form of a complete...
