NEW XTAR DRAGON VP4 Plus analyzing charger

The ir feature on my unit is great. It give repeatable results on all my cells. I measured my half charged resting Vt6 cells at 13 milliohms. 30Q are 16 milliohms. Dave

4000 Watt short arc searchlight project

Ametek Rotron makes the fans you want. If you get the dc versions, they are easy to control from dc/dc inverter. Look at Aximax, and Propimax from them. You lose pressure fast as you lower the speed so sizing in important. 70 cfm from a small 2" fan is better than 70 cfm from a 3" fan slowed...

4250^2/4 = 4.5m candela. 7000 lumans. Cool stuff, it sure does look like a very cool product. Congratulation, as I eagerly await some pictures fo this very rare light. Dave

This is my new 3 axis stage. It is much smaller than the microscope one I was going to use.

    The Nightsword project

Cool pictures. I also like both of those lamps. The little 500 has a luminous area of only .8 mm x .7 mm That should make a very narrow beam. I still like the Xstage bulb because they are easy to get, and have very high intensity, and way more lumens. Just to let you know my 3000 watt power...

    2000 watt short arc

To be honest, the decision was easy. I do not want my hands near the running bulb. Also filtered air will be in that area, and I don't want any holes back there. I will post some pictures soon. It looks like a giant Maxa Beam. I think will call it Maxa Monster. It will have a huge umbilical...

    2000 watt short arc

Thanks for the input guys. I will be able to get the tip of the cathode very close to the focal point right from the start. It will be controlled by 3 small stepper motors on a 3 axis stage taken from a Zeiss microscope. All the travel limits have to have mechanical limits to prevent damage to...

    2000 watt short arc

Just setting the focus limits, Would 10 mm total be enough, and should I bias it a 60/40 toward the vertex. Note the reflector has 60 mm focal length. The 10 mm travel is for Z travel axis. Thanks Dave

I guess the best part, in this case is the cost per luman. 100000 lumans for $ 20. Dave

    2000 watt short arc

I fell out my chair when I saw this. I looks like a giant UHP bulb. Anyways it has S-90 burn position, and very small gap for this wattage. Here is the make of the bulb. Also called Osram xbo 2500W HY PER [/IMG]

    2000 watt short arc

Yes there has been some procrastination, but the project will move quickly now, as I have the supply now. I do have spider, and 3 axis focus ready. Also Aximax for cooling. Dave
