Best H11 bulbs for fog lights (2017 Ford Flex)

@alpg88 yeah thanks but not going to do any mods. If there's a good LED variant I will always consider that but not going to hack it. @RHS-113 thanks, had not thought of Daniel Stern or of going with yellow as an option. Worth considering.

Best H11 bulbs for fog lights (2017 Ford Flex)

I don't use them much but one burned out so I'd like to see if there are worthy upgrades from a basic H11 bulb. I did take a look at the LED models available and it does not look like they are 'legal' (for fog light levels of legal; they are not headlights) and I did not see any compelling...

GE Nighthawk NHX Nighthawk Xenon +120, how are they?

While I've certainly outgrown my old attachment to tungsten sealed beam warm light for cars, I have been happy with the performance and color of the Philips XTremevision line compared to the factory bulbs in the current Ford Flex and previous Jeep Liberty, and not a fan of the blue-filtered or...

GE Nighthawk NHX Nighthawk Xenon +120, how are they?

How are the H1 bulbs in this line? I'm really not sure I'll like the color temp on these bulbs (based on the chart on the Amazon item page) but if I put them in I'll want the high beams on my quad-headlight car to have matching bulbs. Thanks!

    2017 Ford Flex options

Thanks for the reference; I never heard of them before. The two local pickaparts don't have any Flex models (they are not exactly common though I see more of them now that I'm in one). LKQ doesn't either but its not that far away and its a third option to keep an eye on. I'm checking...

    2017 Ford Flex options

THanks for that. Appears the prices on Ebay and a very quick check there are comparable; decent ones will be 1200 and up for the pair ($2000 from a lot of the vendors). I'm hoping to get lucky and find some for under 6-800 or so even if I've got to search a while. Or until I've got that much...

    2017 Ford Flex options

My 2002 Jeep died suddenly, and the winner of the 'get a replacement car fast!' search was a 2017 Ford Flex SEL, my first Ford ever, with halogen headlights. They were rather anemic, and I see now, having just found the recent topic about them, that the IIHS ratings called them poor. The...

Older car instrument panel lighting update (floodlit gauges)

I have a 1971 Challenger with standard gauges. That's the single large speedometer on the left and four smaller gauges running across the dash to the right. The gauges have no built in lighting; they are flood-lit by a light-bar recessed into the padded dash above the instruments with...

Good high power IR emitters for a copper heatsink-based floodlight

I recently snagged a 6 ounce copper heat sink from an industrial control PC. About 3" x 4" on the flat, 3.5mm thick plate, with very intricate raised fins in a tight pattern on the fan side. My first thought was to stick some high power LEDs on it. I can get access to equipment to drill/tap...

    9007 relay upgrade parts/sockets

Thank you kindly for the info. I may see about upgrading the entire headlight units then (mine is a 2002). I have the XTreme Power bulbs in it now and they helped but I'm looking for more. 12 gauge... wow. Didn't expect to go that large but OK.

    9007 relay upgrade parts/sockets

I've decided to put a relay upgrade in my Liberty; it uses 9007 bulbs, and a quick test of a direct connection battery-bulb on one side showed enough improvement in output to make it worth it. I'm going to make it a reversible upgrade using 9007 plugs to connect the existing sockets to the...

Reducing glare from a LED lantern

Though you have your solution, another that has worked very well for me is Glad Press-n-seal wrap. It has enough tackiness to stick pretty well to smooth plastic and the texture does a good job of cleaning up the light output. Plus its removable if you ever need to.

    OLD Emergency Lantern?

    Something like this perhaps?

    Lantern Moding?

There was a great thread on modding the little Sylvania mini-lanterns... they're not the easiest to find any longer but they are quite handy and could be upgraded to put out a decent amount of light.

Best yellow 9006 halogen lamp (for fog light use)

Whew! Just checked my last couple of spare Hella bulbs and they're all made in Germany (except the two made in West Germany ;)
