The phd can drive an LED in direct drive mode. The software is not set up for that, but the phd hardware can do PWM at up to 15 amps. So it would require special software. I plan to try it at some point with a KD D Lion, but time is difficult to find. Something in the hardware must limit the current to a safe level, generally this is the battery and flashlight resistance. The phd resistance is very low.
