    Design for a custom board

Thanks. I looked at the MP2307. It's supposed to be more efficient than the MP1584 which doesn't have a low side FET on the switching output. It seems recent and more efficient circuits have both high and low side switching FETs, and no need for external diode. Less external components means...

Lithium 1.5v rechargeable batteries... why not?

A TPS54719 could draw some current and still be efficient at light loads. But it would be strange to put 2-3-4 AA in series that, each, downs to 1.5V from 3.7V... Or only one down to 1.5V then pushed to ~3.2V to drive a LED. IMHO the question is not "why not rechargeable 1.5V AA" but "why is...

    Design for a custom board

Here is a picture of, left MP1584, middle MP2307, right LM2596: Look for "super mini DC-DC step down" on ebay and you should find them ;) This is not (yet) for driving LEDs directly (I'm not looking for a current regulator). It's a challenge where I'd like to "simulate" one Li-Ion cell from 2...

    Design for a custom board

A zillion thanks to all. OK, I think I begin to get it. But please, do not blame me if I'm still naive. Yes, really, I thought it was easy to assemble a chip, an inductor and a few caps and resistors. Isn't that all needed for a buck voltage regulator ? Probably, certainly. But, I agree, it...

    Design for a custom board

I expected a few links, design tools, vendor names (I provided some, just confirming or warning them already helps), I didn't even got that. I assume I was too generic and you were afraid :) So I'll narrow my request. I started playing with Eagle CAD. Seems like a 20 years old program that...

    Design for a custom board

I need to get started somewhere, right ? Everybody did :) I already have some knowledge, skills, maybe common sense... from the 80's. I also have an old analog Hameg. SMD came up since. To me, the most difficult part is the dedicated tools needed, and the (very small) size. An amateur can't...

    Design for a custom board

Ok, if no one can help me, can I be advised any forum where to get started designing and making PCB, then soldering SMD ? Thanks.

    Design for a custom board

Hi flash folks ;) I'd like to make an adjustable voltage regulated buck driver. It should accept 2 li-ions input and have an output between 3.7V to 4.2V, which is like 1 li-ion (say 4.0V). I'd like constant 2A output, 3A for 10-15s burst, as efficient as possible, and of course small and light...

    Some LED bulbs...

Here are some pictures from a dual "spider" Ikea fixture holding different E14 bulbs: 1x E14 18x5mm LED (less than 1W ?), 2x E14 compact fl (Ikea, 7W rated), 1x E14 3x1W Cree LED (warm white), 1x E14 3x1W Cree LED (cold white), 1x E14 incan bulb (40W rated). The E14 18x5mm LED is bluish...

    Philips Living Colors

Couldn't resist and purchased the Philips. Sunny day today, so I tested it in the... bathroom ;) Well, the most cool item is the remote, iPod-like sensitive.

    Philips Living Colors

I discovered the Philips Living Colors on a shop near home. It looks pretty cool. It costs 149€ (about $200). Did someone try or have it ? I found a driver that might do the same think in a custom made lamp: http://www.dotlight.de/shop/product_info.php/cPath/263_266/products_id/828 Costs seem...

    Help with Super8 projector lamp

A bit OT, but what super8 projector and video camera do you use ? And how do you synchronize each film frame with the video capture ? Thanks

    Help with Super8 projector lamp

I do not agree. But maybe I wouldn't use a white LED. I would use 5 colored LED: red, green, blue, cyan and yellow with the possibility to dim each LED independently. Super8 use to be too reddish over time and halogen lamps are already too reddish. It should be better to compensate at the light...
