Difficult question: Long life, low capacity, rechargeable battery

I used to consider myself a battery expert, and I've never heard of these. Thanks a ton. They look like they will fit my requirements perfectly. Long life, low self discharge, rugged, low internal resistance, easy to recharge, inexpensive, and even safer for the environment! Wow. I can't thank...

Difficult question: Long life, low capacity, rechargeable battery

I'm looking for a rechargeable battery that will have a capacity of at least 10mW after 10 years with many very shallow discharges and recharges(<10% depth of discharge). Would a rechargeable lithium ion battery work, or would a low self discharge NiMh battery be better? I don't think the Slow...

    Small Portable Radio's?

For all of you survivalist-types out there, the best long-term emergency radio is one that can be made from materials that are available, doesn't wear out, and doesn't need batteries. Crystal radios are extremely easy to build. The only part you would really have to buy are the the...

    Soldering wires to a CR123?

I don't know if it's safe or not, but if it isn't, why not just get a small battery holder? You probably wouldn't have to spend more than a few cents on one.

Why aren't there more TIR lenses?

I really liked the Inova TIROS optics and was disappointed when they switched to reflectors.

Quest for reliable, tiny, keychain light.

I use a Nano on my keychain as well, and I've never had a problem with it. I like it because it's small, the battery is replaceable, and it's so cheap, I don't worry about it getting scratched or lost. Try putting some thick silicone lubricant on it. That always makes my threads stickier.

    El Capitan Release

I don't think I've ever seen a beamshot of a Peak light. If anything is keeping me from buying an El Capitan, it's that.

    13 year compact flourecents

In my experience, those CFLs have shorter lifespans than incandescent bulbs. I only used them in one room for about 4 years, and in that time, I went through 5 bulbs. Of the 5 that failed, 2 of them failed violently. One of them exploded into pieces above my head, and the other one made a...

What is a good drop in to use in a DIY bike light?

I'm going to make a battery pack with some extra 18650s I have laying around, so power consumption is not much of an issue.

    18650 DIY battery pack questions

I'm making a mountain bike light for someone. See http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?p=3199156#post3199156 I have 12 18650 batteries, some of which I plan to use as a power source. I have a cheap charger that will charge individual batteries, but then I will need to set up the...

What is a good drop in to use in a DIY bike light?

My dad has been complaining about his 70 lumen mountain bike light lately, and I want to get him something that will blow him away. I was thinking of getting the TerraLUX TLE-300, putting it in a Maglite head with a handlebar mount. However, Batteryjunction just discontinued this drop-in and...

    Anyone prefer AA over 123

I have a bunch of 17670 batteries from an old laptop battery, so 2x123A size is my current favorite. Another reason I like CR123A is the 10 year shelf life. Sure, you can buy AA lithium batteries, but they are more expensive that CR123As. Of course, AA does have the advantage of being much...

    What is a "Larry Light"?

Tungsten? How does one even cut tungsten into the shape of a light? That's insane!
