Power Outage, How many Lumens, How many batteries? (for lights and more)

I check the charge on the Eneloops in my TK40 every spring and have lanterns, headlamps, 2 AA flashlights, and many others. Lighting is covered. I also have lots of Eneloops, Lithium AAA, AA, and 9v batteries, USB power packs, car chargers, inverters, and 3 computer UPSs. This and only two power...

LED flashlight enthusiasm seems to be waning

Lynx_Arc could have been reading my mind as his statement exactly matches my thoughts. I used to spend way too much on flashlights and did it for several years. I stopped hanging out here in an attempt to discipline my spending habits. I have flashlights powered by almost any cell I can find. I...

Things today's kids missed out on

Red Ball Jets for those of us who couldn't get our parents to spring for Converse or Keds shoes. Erasers for ballpoint ink. Songs with clear lyrics and radio stations that announced the song title/album titles every third or fourth song. Listening to my parents and grandparents having nostalgic...

Things today's kids missed out on

Not to mention the trips to the drug store to buy replacement fillers. Where are the 032Fs when you need them?

1AA lights with stainless steel bezel & stainless steel tailcap?

I use a stainless steel head on an aluminum body from Peak LED Solutions. The Pacific makes a good choice and you can get a stainless steel momentary switch for the tail.

X37B team, thanks for the ion beam implanted, microgravity alloy key fob. It's wicked, awesome, baaaad! ;)

Anybody else had problems with DealExtreme (DX)?

I had no problems for years except for the typical 3 week wait. Last year I received one item broken. With a picture and scan of the package they replied within a few days and asked me to try to find a way to recycle or repurpose the damaged goods while assuring me a replacement was on the way...

Found my favorite keychain 1xAAA light (Fenix vs. iTP vs. Peak)

I like the stainless steel Eiger with narrow optics mostly because the SS is durable against a key ring.

Coleman Lanterns vs. LED's -- From CPF to CCF

I suppose they are useful for barbeques, beaches, and hanging on the front porch during power outages. My immediate thought though was of a camping trip long ago. My friends and I were sleeping under the stars on a mountain side in California. We were just gazing at the stars with quality dark...

    TK40 parasitic drain test

Interesting, thanks. I loosen the head and tailcap until the light won't function when I put it away. My power outage cabinet has a TK40 with Eneloops that I charge every spring. I think the TK40 is an excellent light for interior ceiling bounce during hurricane season. I just can't use my 8...

Should we not keep batteries in flashlights?

I probably have over 60 flashlights. The heavily used ones have NiMH, the must be ready but not often used have Li, and the old beaters had the batteries that came with them. I too have lost a few due to alkaline leakage. I used to leave flashlights in all my jackets but have found even the name...

Would You still Buy an Arc AAA Today?

I kept waiting for the original Arc to become available in white again. I finally gave up and got it in "Turquoise" which I would call "traffic light green". It lived on my keychain for a few years with few signs of wear. I replaced it with a stainless steel, knurled lug body, Peak Eiger. For...

Any news on the Thrunite AAA?

Indeed. I would think runtime/efficiency would trump other considerations with a small battery. But maybe that is just me.

My first Surefire. Impressed by Incan 6P Defender

Like many on this forum, I have plenty of incandescents and LED flashlights. I usually use the LEDs for indoors and when I need longer battery life. The only incandescent I would bring most times is my trusty old Surefire A2. It's LEDs appear to have been specially chosen by PK to give a bad...
