Effectiveness of adding extra heatsinks to a flashlight

Different concept but reminds me of Electrolumens — back in the early days of LEDs when they were driving relatively inefficient LEDs really hard he used to mount the led to a block of copper. As for adding a heatsink it would help but there needs to be a thermal path away from the source...

I think the raw and grey both look fantastic... I just the Synergy 1 in Grey... Looking forward to it.

    Hurry up new Quarks!

I'm with you... I want to replace my AA Quark and get a 18650/16650 but I often find myself using a true medium level. Medium here seems too bright... maybe when Mark III v2 comes out? By the way, what am I missing here? So many people excited about this lights. CRI is not special by...

BE AMAZED! The New Fenix LD42 LED Flashlight Upgrade is Released

I guess this is what makes horse races Agree that with a yellow body this would get more interesting but for me that’s in a single or double cell light driven at lower wattage.

BE AMAZED! The New Fenix LD42 LED Flashlight Upgrade is Released

I had edited my post to clarify that I wasn’t referencing the multi page brochure attached to this thread but that edit disappeared as did some other back and forth conversation in the thread. It is the description on the light’s web page that is misleading. It says “Premium materials are used...

    Hurry up new Quarks!

Where is the real “medium” level? The output levels don’t make sense. Basically moonlight or what would have been considered until a 7 or 8 years ago scorching

BE AMAZED! The New Fenix LD42 LED Flashlight Upgrade is Released

Forget 6 months; how about a plastic body used for 2 hours straight at a high output? Little heat absorption vs metal body. Looks nice otherwise.

BE AMAZED! The New Fenix LD42 LED Flashlight Upgrade is Released

I almost ordered this light, won’t now that I know it is plastic. This light is powerful enough (1,000 lumens) to benefit from the heat sink that a metal body would provide. Nitecore has cast aluminum bodies for their 4 AA light... why not do that here??? PS: Product description (webpage not...

It would not be based on copyright (protects authorship) ... SF must have a pertinent patent?

Weird Issue: EagTac D3A + Eneloops

Thanks! Nice to know I have company. I knew it wasn't my eneloops when I installed a brand new Duracell... while the problem didn't happen the first time (it never does) I left the light alone and sure enough next time it didn't work... The dealer is sending me a replacement head, so waiting...

Weird Issue: EagTac D3A + Eneloops

Thanks all. I've tried cleaning the head and it doesn't seem to help, but I'll try it again. The biggest challenge I have is that the problem is intermittent; its not easy to replicate and doesn't happen every time. This makes it much tougher to pinpoint the source of the issue. I've done...

Weird Issue: EagTac D3A + Eneloops

Hi everyone, I've got a weird issue with my EagTac D3A Ti that I'm trying to figure out. My D3A works fine when I first put in the batteries. I can turn the light on and off multiple times, switch between brightness with a half click, and switch between modes (L/M/H and Turbo/strobe) by...

What Rechargeable LED Light For Paramedic Student Son?

Light currently available with or without pupil gauge. Non medics didn’t like/need the gauge; one not necessarily newer than other.
