Solar powered LED flag pole light

Hi guys, thank you for your comments. My friend sent a photo of his flag with the solar rechargeable light. The light output was rather lame, as I expected. You can't see much of the flag at night. I hoped to have been pleasantly surprised . . . but wasn't. (It is interesting to see non...

Solar powered LED flag pole light

Hello everyone. There are solar rechargeable LED lights designed to attach to the top of a flag pole. Once its dark enough, they turn on to light up your flag. I've seen numerous versions of these online. But the ones I've checked out don't have any real specs - lumen output, for example. The...

Maglite Solitaire - Incandescent - Do you still use them?

I've got one of these 'around somewhere' that I bought years ago. Though I don't know where it is at the moment, I do recall trying that particular one out a few years ago (pre flashaholic) and not being very impressed. My L3 Illumination L10 lights (have them in 3 and in 4 mode) offer a CRI 92...

Moonlight mode--any good or just marketing?

LOL isn't that amazing ?! My L10 is the first sub lumen light that I've owned. Before, I couldn't imagine the usefulness of such a low setting. But, after my eyes are darkness adapted, 3 lumens seems very bright compared to .09 lumens.

Moonlight mode--any good or just marketing?

Thats been my personal experience. With the very low lumen setting you see shapes rather than distinct color. Perfectly fine for navigating in the house late at night. But in applications where CRI is important (there was a thread recently on lights for medical professionals) you would likely...

Moonlight mode--any good or just marketing?

Glad to see this old thread was revisited. Its interesting to read that the OP wondered if moonlight/firefly mode might be nothing but a marketing gimmick when he posted 5 years ago in 2009. I have a flashlight with a .09 lumen setting and I find it very useful. Its amazing how little light you...

Penlights for Medical Professionals - EMT, Paramedics, MDs - Lumen Levels ?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I will look further into them. This will be for use as a small back-up light always carried, and for patient exams (including pupil response, etc). Don't want to blast them with a super high lumen light ! Other more powerful lights are also in our vehicles...

Penlights for Medical Professionals - EMT, Paramedics, MDs - Lumen Levels ?

climberkid - - - do you see any use for a light with the low firefly setting for this application ? (I was thinking 3 lumens would be low enough, but wanted to get others opinions.) Are you an EMT or paramedic ? I'm trained as a Wilderness First Responder and am going to take a Wilderness EMT...

Penlights for Medical Professionals - EMT, Paramedics, MDs - Lumen Levels ?

Hello - I did a search on EMT & paramedic flashlights. The threads I found were several years old and didn't answer my specific question. What lumen levels would you like in a small penlight sized flashlight ? This would be as a back-up and for patient examination in the field. I recently...

    Book Light ?

Hello everyone - years ago I bought a Zelco 'Itty Bitty Booklight'. It uses incan bulbs, has an ac power transformer and a little battery pack for using C cells if you want. It clips on to your book, putting the light where you need it but doesn't disturb those around you. The problem with it is...

You Just Know Your A Flashaholic When......

Well I bought a L3 Illumination L10 w/ Nichia 219 - 4 mode in orange and after getting it ordered a 3 mode one in natural color. The natural one is for 'more daytime or when eyes aren't dark adapted use'. Don't want to have to twist the head that one extra time when firefly mode isn't useful...

Pak-Lite 9v LED light - what do you think ?

Thanks Mr. Floppy for posting that link & for your comments. That looks simple to do.

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

LOL ! I know what you mean. This would likely really blow their minds . . . after getting the orange 4 mode L10 with Nichia 219, I bought another one in natural (dark gray) in 3 mode. The orange one is for late night use, while the 3 mode natural is for day time or when my night vision hasn't...
