【Discussion】What's your favorite flashlight and why?

My favorite is the JetBeam RRT01. In particular the version without a tail switch. It's small enough to put in a pocket. It's very bright on maximum, and silently it ramps from sub-lumen to max. It's great as a nightstand light because here is no chance of switching it on to a setting that...

    Most powerful EDC flashlights?

Plus one for both the Emisar D4 and the FW3A. Another for the list is the Acebeam EC65 which has 4000 lumens with the 4 Cree XHP70 LEDs or 2500 with the 4 Nichia 90 LEDs.

    What replaces the JetBeam RRT-01?

My thoughts echo those of the OP, carteriii. I've carried an RRT01 for years and it has endured daily use. Small single-cell lights are a passion of mine and I have many. Despite having an abundant collection, no light has come close fitting my needs as an RRT01. I have other magnetic rotary...

    TITAN PLUS

When my stainless steel Fenix LD01 slipped off a broken key ring never to be found again (by me) I went on a quest for a new key ring light. I would have been happy to find a replacement SS LD01 but could not locate one. The quest was fun and obsessive, and it resulted in my purchase of a new...

Does your partner have any interest in your flashlight collection,or none at all

Like so many of you, my wife has no interest at all in flashlights generally or in my collection of them specifically. Whenever referring to a flashlight, she always says "bring your flashlight", or "Do you have your flashlight", or "I'll have him bring his flashlight". In any such instance...

    Defunct brands

    What about Tiablo? That's a brand I haven't seen in a while.

    Streamlight Ultrastinger LED

I also have the Xenon version of the Ultrastinger. At the time of purchase is was an awesome thrower. I eventually purchased a Terralux LED conversion kit which improved on the lumens and throw quite noticeably. However, the NiCad battery back recently croaked and I haven't been willing to...

    JetBeam RRT-01

The RRT01 has been my absolute favorite EDC for a very long time. As mentioned in a previous post, the magnetic control ring is key. The ability to adjust brightness like a dimmer switch makes this light the most versatile one I've ever used for the normal every day (and night) tasks requiring...

    Top Flashlight Brands/Manufactures

Ha! I didn't see your reference to ZebraLight as a top tier. It is a great manufacturer and I understand why you would list it among the top ones. I have 4 of their lights and I have no bad comment to express about any one of them. I don't own a Surefire, but I have 7 Malkoff's and 1 HDS...

    Top Flashlight Brands/Manufactures

The mid tier should also include JetBeam, Klarus, ZebraLight, Eagletac, Olight and Thrunite. Peak belongs in there somewhere too, but doesn't fit squarely in top or mid, but certainly isn't bottom tier.

Would you purchase an Elzetta AAA!?

I couldn't agree more. That describes the only Peak light that I own. I envision something similar when imagining what Elzetta would design for a AAA cell.

    Bought a PD22UE from REI

I'm sorry about your light. Mine is without a flaw. I wouldn't hesitate to get a replacement.

Titanium HDS... Would you buy one?

I have a circa 2011 Rotary, which is perfect in all ways, and I'm still struggling with the decision of whether to upgrade to the 250 lumens Rotary model for $269. So far because of the price I've decided against the upgrade. As for the original inquiry, I would never spend $1,000 on a titanium...
