The Fenix HP11 - a Review in Four Parts

THANKS for the great review! I actually ordered the HP11 before reading the review, after which I was very comforted at my choice of headlamp. I almost bought a Zebralight H50, mainly because I like to keep things simple ... but I will get much more use out of the HP11 'cos it will be used...

    Condor Outdoor packs, got one?

A little late in the reply but I have a FLYYE industires IFAK pouch that was reasonably priced and i must say it's excellent. Big YKK zipper and clamshell opening; certified 1000D CORDURA ... very nice. I also have two CONDOR, padded GPS pouches ... they have 'hidden' zippers but they work just...

    SPYDERCO RESILIENCE

Anyone actually own it put the knife through its paces or beaten the crap out of it to ascertain its lock strength and general toughness? I'm considering purchasing one, since I would like a large working folder for general ranch use, like cutting hay-bale twine in the winter etc.

    Sold/Expired 4AA to 1D, 8AA to 2D, 12AA to 3D M*g

I have a 2D and a 3D with Terralux drop-ins. What would you suggest? I'm up for buying... I really like the idea of having AA's in my Mags...but my knowledge of flashlights is limited to doing a 3C cell mod in a 2D Mag right now!!! Would appreciate a reply...hey; I'm learning!!!

    Eating bugs to survive?

This is exactly why I practice going without food for very long periods!! Three days is a cinch...one week a little tougher...more than that and I reckon I might have to break down and shoot something tasty!!!

Playing one song on the piano while singing a different one

What you're describing in this 10yo is something that many great artists have struggled with: the ability to seperate the instrument/s and the voice and then artfully combining them into one unique sound, without one tripping over the other. A gifted young lady indeed.

    Best Guitarist Ever?

Definitely tons of good guitarists around...Clapton always gets the accolades it seems but I've always thought that Rory Gallagher was a much better blues/rock guitar slinger... Acoustic blues: Too many to mention really but Rev Gary Davis was and still is, unique among acoustic players...

    ZT-0350, BM-755, CS-AK47 ????

The Sun, Thanks for the great expo...I've never trusted folding knives to do anything but slice bananas. My EDC's are fixed blades. I do carry a CS VOYAGER folder clipped into my pocket though...just because I aquired it years ago and because I don't even notice it's there. The VOYAGER does...

    ZT-0350, BM-755, CS-AK47 ????

JCLD, I have a CS Kobun, and it feels cheap; but it's sharper than a razor (Aus 8) and it serves its purpose, (boot knife). Apparently, throwing a knife into a board (like Perrin does) quickly sorts out the "weak" locks from the strong ones on folding knives. Something to do with locks being...

Kramer, Here's the CS video with Perrin throwing the Lawman folder..... http://coldsteelforums.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=95118&mpage=1#95118

If you're concerned about lock strength, I'd certainly check to see if the CS is a "triad lock". If it is...then I'd google search for a Fred Perrin video in which he throws a CS folder repeatedly into a board fence (that's after throwing 1000 times before the video was taken). I think it's in...

Agreed, That's why I bought it!!! Heh! Heh!!! The price was the lowest I could find, but i'm not sure if i'm allowed to say from where I purchased it? That being said; I reckon it's still a knife in the 100-140 Dollar range. I'm not going to give Sal any accolades until he changes the size and...

    Concrete Question

I just got done doing the same thing myself; and believe me, like "guitar hero" suggested, the "prep-work" is the most important IMHO. Make sure you have a foundation of varying hardcore size under the concrete that is packed down solid and then some, preferebly with a motorized "packer" of some...

jzmtl, The knife is expensive; may be due to the grind and maybe due to the blade material being a Japanese proprietary steel (not allowed to be exported)? I bought the knife for 171 U.S. Dollars - Why? Because I like the blade shape and the overall size and utility of the total package. The...

Too bad; 98 views and not one reply. All Sal supporters? I bought this knife and i like it. It'sessentially just a Japanese kitchen knife and i doubt very much that Sal had much to do with it except the for writing the very Oriental theological explanation of what the knife is: "An excercise...
