I want to hear from you: What makes CPF work?

That's a great point. Thanks for mentioning that. I added another sentence or two to explain that a forum can accommodate "off topic" topics too. All of your other points are also well-taken.

I want to hear from you: What makes CPF work?

I published the post I was working on about online groups and CPF. Your input was a big help, and I quoted a few of you. Have a look: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/what-makes-good-online-group-david-max Feel free to critique the final product. I will be happy to make any corrections if I have...

I want to hear from you: What makes CPF work?

Even though I haven't been the most active member, I've been a member of CPF for a long time. One of the things I've noticed is how well it works. What I mean by that is that when I want to know what's going on in the world of flashlights, this is the place to go. Most of the time, I can get...

Looking for a small quality solar flashlight

I was remembering that there was a discussion way back when about the kind of solar light... I finally found it in the discussions of the Skylight from 2006 (http://www.skunklights.com/products-SLS.php). It uses a Lithium Vanadium battery, with low self-discharge rate and 3hr runtime. From what...

Looking for a small quality solar flashlight

Something with a hand-sized solar cell and AA-sized rechargeable batteries is bigger than what I have in mind. I'm looking for something that's smaller, probably using some kind of rechargeable button batteries. But that's the realm of devices that also include ones that are complete frauds.

Looking for a small quality solar flashlight

Looking for a small solar flashlight in a key-tag/credit card style shape. I know there are a lot of inexpensive ones out there, but some of the ones I've seen either run down really fast, take really long to charge, and otherwise seem like they don't work all that well and won't last very long...

    Eco-Lite

I know this is an old thread, but I had something to add... Somebody tossed one of these into our battery recycling bin because it no longer charges (presumably), so I "rescued" it to see what's inside. To open the case (as I discovered a bit too late), pry off the rubber switch cover...

Seeking small reliable quality AAA EDC light for $20 or under

I didn't see anything that distinguished the Olight i3 from the iTP A3 EOS, the latter of which can be found for under $20, so I kept that one on my list of options, but in the end I decided to go for the Thrunite Ti firefly. It should be in the mail right now. Thanks all for your recommendations!

Seeking small reliable quality AAA EDC light for $20 or under

Thanks. My Maratac is not upgraded, so has a PWM frequency of about 100Hz, I believe. I'm keeping the upgraded iTP A3 EOS on my list because the frequency is now so much higher.

Seeking small reliable quality AAA EDC light for $20 or under

Thanks for all the suggestions! Thrunite Ti looks interesting. Didn't know about that one before. Can you see with 0.04 lumens? (I saw the 3 lumen one too) Thanks for the pointers on the cheaper lights. It's hard to pick out of those that are good values.

Seeking small reliable quality AAA EDC light for $20 or under

I have a Maratac AAA in polished stainless steel that I'm looking to replace. I find the low and med modes to be uncomfortable to use because of the low PWM frequency, so I'm looking for something in the $20 and under range to replace it with. Should be - reliable (which is why I'm not going...

    Hurricane Irene...

In prep for Irene, my wife ran out on the Thursday before to buy some supplies in advance. I new that I had dozens of AA and AAA batteries handy, but I have an LED lantern and a battery-operated radio that run on D batteries, and I had no spares. So, I asked my wife to pick up some D batteries...

    What's your ideal watch?

This one always turns my head. Mirror shine, really heavy and virtually scratch proof tungsten carbide. The non-chrono versions are really nice too. Swiss Legend Tungsten Chronograph

    Need some simple machining help

I'm looking for someone who can help me with a little machining that I want to do. For anyone who makes their own flashlight bodies, and has access to a lathe, this little task ought to be a snap. As a demo for my daughter's pre-K class, I have a set of similar-sized metal cylinders made from...
