Review Solarforce L2T - latest in the L2 series

Re: Solarforce L2T - latest in the L2 series Just got my L2T. Took about 3 weeks to arrive in the US from HK. Great value. Solid construction. My only gripes are regarding the head and the clicky---the former having too tall a bezel ring which blocks a considerable amount of spill; the latter...

    Solarforce drop fit G2?

The end of the pill must be in solid contact with the metal sleeve inside the G2 body. I personally have not had much luck with dropins in the G2, especially multi-mode ones. Inconsistent contact causes skipping of the highest mode.

    Current best LED lantern?

I wonder how much more expensive it would be if the design was modified so that the 3 LEDS are tilted slightly up and inwards. Wouldn't that improve the light pattern some?

    Current best LED lantern?

Perhaps I've been spoiled by the brightness of my single XPG-R4 flashlight, but compared to the flashlight pointing up to the white ceiling, the Rayovac Sportsman led lantern is not impressive at all. To start with, there's a big shadow created by the top of the lantern. Then there's the...

    4Sevens Quark AA body problem

It sounds like 47s did NOT fix the problem, or at least was not given the opportunity to try again.

Help me find a LED thrower with good spill...

An 8-ft diameter hotspot at 200-ft translates to about a 2.3-degree hotspot beam angle, which is even narrower than that of the Dereelight DBS with a R2 in a smooth reflector, which was considered to be the pocketable throw king for a long time and may still be the king in its class. It has...

    Dereelight Javelin

I resisted Li-ions for the longest time, but found few options sticking with AAs, so I made the leap to P60s powered by 18650 cells and haven't looked back since. There is much to choose from once you make the switch. Oh, btw, don't be too disappointed with the discontinuation of the XRE SMO...

Surefire Z41 "Twisty" tailcap still in production

I think the tailcap is the suspect. The problem you described before seems to coincide with my obervation that a lot of pressure is needed in the momentary-on mode to keep the light from flickering. My C2 has the exact problem. :shakehead

    Problems with Thrunite XPG G2zLED

Do not remove the smaller spring in the center! Dan OF was referring to the larger spring twisted onto the threads of the pill.

    Problems with Thrunite XPG G2zLED

Does the Thrunite module rattle in the head with the batteries removed? The pill needs to make contact with the top of the metallic sleeve. This does not happen if the dropin is too short. Either shim the gap between the bottom of the pill and the top of the metalic sleeve with a ring of wire or...

    Show your Solarforce

Is that a 6P body? Ah, never mind, I see the "joint" now.

    P60 sized led drop-ins (part 3)

Ya know, I tried my NB XPE Q3 in my DBS with SMO for SST50. The hotspot starts out really small and uniform, unlike the layered hotspot of the R2, but quickly diverges. The spill is smooth and uniform as well, with no artifacts. The edge of the hotspot is also much sharper than that of the R2...

    P60 sized led drop-ins (part 3)

I have a Dereelight SMO and a LOP for the XRE. Like orbital says, the SMO is quite ringy. Even the LOP produces a dark ring around the hotspot. The interesting thing is both produce wider spills than other SMO and LOP reflectors, respectively. Perhaps they are more shallow? In addition, the...

    Selfbuilt's 100-Yard Outdoor Beamshots *UPDATE SEPT 2010* - now 34 lights!

Thanks for the inclusion of the DBS. Once again, the Maelstrom shows what a well designed reflector can do. Too bad reflector manufacturers don't do the same for D26 reflectors. Any chance you can procure the Lumapower D-Mini VX with a R2 in a Turbo Force Head (the biggest turbo head)?
