Hi, I ordered one of these units after seeing this thread. It arrived today, and mine seems very dim.
Tried it in a 3 x D cell maglight and it didn't light up.
Tried it in a 6 x D cell maglight and it lights up but is very feint.
Did the seller send you a replacement OK? Looking at his...
My only car charger is an automatic one, and when it is connected, it keeps turning itself on and off... you can hear the relay clicking...
Is this battery dead, or is there a way or reviving it?
It's from a UPS... I left is unplugged for too long. :(
I've foudn the SX1 do be pretty bad as well... which is why I'm tempted to try a DSD charger instead. I cannot find any croc clips tho...
I've got the battery in now, I'm not sure if it's charging or not, but it can't hurt to try... :)
EDIT: After an hour or so, it's gone from 2.6v to 2.8v, so...
Well the thing is the battery won't charge if it's in the phone, and the phone won't turn on without the battery.... I plug the phone in and nothing shows on the screen, no sign of it charging at all...
The phone itself is fine, as I managed to temporarily wire a 18650 to the phone, and it runs...
The cell in question is a Siemens SX1.
The battery is your normal li-ion type (3.7v).
The phone will not turn on, even with the charger plugged in...
I hooked the batt up to a DMM, and it says 2.56v...
I'm guessing it's dead, or could I revive it if i hooked it up to a DSD charger with croc...
I wonder how much energy the moving magnets would produce? Not much I imagine, but the fact that it only add a small amount of weight to your wheels to give you almost "free" power is great.
I wonder if this system could be used to top up my Li-ion 18650's that I have on my bike, that power...
Hmm, I need to do mine aswell, as my IRC bulb is very wide.
I would go with a drill press, on a medium to low speed, and probably go from the backside. I'd be interested to hear from someone who has already done it, as I don't want to get it wrong either.
I did try seaching, but only found a few threads mentioning certain rcr123's don't fit in passing. Maybe a sticky would be a good idea, eg. have a list of batteries and what torches they are compatible with. I know there is a similar problem with the golston rechargable version.
Anyway, my...
Anyone know of a proteced rcr123 battery that fit's in the cr123 fenix l1t body? I've tried 3 now, and none fit. :( So I'm using unprotected ones for now.
Also, I don't mind if it's 3v or 3.7, but I'd prefer 3.7 as I won't need yet another charger then. :)
basically, everything is better on the hotwire.
bulb is more efficient
battery is lighter, and not made of lead acid
beam can be customised with different reflectot
water reistant
and far more reliable :)
