    EDC tactical light

The Predator also by default has mode memory. This would have to be deactivated for it to work without fail, but yes, given some work strobe can be activated without turning the head. The main question is would the OP be walking around with the head loosend, or does he want access at all times?

...for mounting on top of High Def Camcorder

I don't have a suggestion for a light, but you can get something with a concentrated beam, as long as you have a diffuser. A Kleenex works well if you need to jerry-rig.

    What is a good thrower?

    ArmyTek Predator.

Tell me what to spend my cash on!

Have a look at Surefire, Malkoff and HDS.

When has having your flashlight hindered you?

Yes, I went to a shooting competition and had to shoot prone. Took the G2X out.

    Recommend me a torch!

Yes, don't buy a DX. I would say a Surefire G2X and a set of the new Surefire rechargeable batteries, or an ArmyTek Predator. Both of those are a bit out of your budget, but if you can push it...;)

    Unique LED request

Um, the closest thing I know of is an ArmyTek Predator with an Orange Peel reflector. Those are quite the requirements! What is it for?

    EDC tactical light

Yes, you have to twist the head to get strobe on the ArmyTek.

Reccomend a light for a hard-working handyman who is ROUGH on tools

Surefire E2DL or 6PX Pro are the two that come to mind for your Dad, but any Surefire, Elzetta, Malkoff, or HDS would be suitable. EDIT: The E2D can tailstand, the 6PX cannot. HDS makes some that can tailstand, and Surefire also has options, especially for their E-series.

    What's wrong with my torch?

:welcome:How many of these cheap lights have you bought? You have to replace them as they break, and you keep extras around so that you won't be left in the dark when they do break. Have you bought ten? Then you could have bought a single $100 light that would last for the rest of your life, for...

    Unhappy with Surefire beam pattern

If you want a perfect beam, get a Surefire with an Orange Peel reflector. Compare your $60 Streamlight to your E1L, which one has more throw, adjusted for size? That is where to TIR excels.

    CR123?

CR123s are so popular because they can power extremely bright lights, they last for years when stored, and they are safer than rechargeable batteries.

    Predator Memory?

I left the batteries out of my ArmyTek Predator for ~a week, and it had reverted to the Military preset. My settings were still saved in the Custom preset, so all is well. But, does the Predator always revert to Military after extended battery removal?

    Headlamp for auto work.

I should also mention that my previous Craftsman headlamp died VERY quickly, so I want good reliability. Thus Surefire. I've heard that Zebralight has some problems with that.
