    Lumens to Lumens

So no one would argue with you over there, so you came over here to start a fight? The funny thing is that no one here really wants to argue with you either.

    Suggestions on my new headlamp?

Zebralights come with some issues. Some people love them and swear buy them. Some people hate them and would never buy them again. Do your research and make sure you know what you're getting into.

    Suggestions on my new headlamp?

+1 Current gen Petzls are the class of the field.

    NOT HAPPY WITH LED'S

That's another area where incans rule. No tint lottery. Well, at least less of one.

    NOT HAPPY WITH LED'S

Am I the only one that likes the incan better in every one of those beamshots? True story: Not long ago, I was taking an evening stroll on some nearby trails when a wall of fog rolled in thicker than I had seen in a long, long time. It wasn't long before the glare from my headlamp made it...

New Petzl Tikkina - finally an affordable name brand headlamp?

I picked up a new Tikka. For first impressions, I don't have much to add to what carrot already wrote up. It's a nice, solid headlamp, very simple. It doesn't do much, but it does what it does well. A great starter headlamp IMO.

    Is this H502c?

It's a Lux T. Looks like ZL updated their products without updating the info on their pages again.

Traditional headlamps vs LED cr123 light lamps?

Thanks for clarifying that. I believe that this puts you in a small minority of headlamp users. And it makes sense that you would feel underserved by traditional headlamps since their design goals are broader. Flashlight based headlamps still outperform traditional headlamps in niche...

Traditional headlamps vs LED cr123 light lamps?

The main one was lower output and price relative to output. They weren't very bright and were quite expensive considering how dim they were. That probably bothered more people than the inconveniences associated with using 3xAAA batteries. However, traditional headlamps have pretty much caught...

Traditional headlamps vs LED cr123 light lamps?

But my guess is that you're using Eneloops, right? For Petzl, the 3xAAA format isn't just about saving a few bucks over a 1xAA format, it's about making a headlamp that is more usable for their target customers - casual users. Casual users generally don't own Eneloops nor do they want to...

Traditional headlamps vs LED cr123 light lamps?

FYI, one of the problems with using a twist operated flashlight as a headlamp is that turning it on/off and changing modes can be pretty awkward and may require both hands. In general, ergonomics is one area where traditional headlamps have a huge advantage over flashlight based headlamps...

New Petzl Tikkina - finally an affordable name brand headlamp?

Thanks for the mini review. Nice to know that they fixed the PWM frequency. The previous gen's Econo mode was useless for a lot of people because the PWM was so bad.

High CRI neutral white 18650 headlamps?

There are no high CRI 18650 headlamps available as of now unless you get one custom built or make your own.

New Petzl Tikkina - finally an affordable name brand headlamp?

3xAAA format and unregulated circuit makes more sense for an entry level headlamp like this. The bulk of these will be run on alkalines probably, and a 1xAA regulated headlamp just doesn't run that well on an alkaline. Trying to get people who will only use a headlamp maybe four or five...

New Petzl Tikkina - finally an affordable name brand headlamp?

Spotted the new Petzl Tikkina recently on REI.com. It's been significantly upgraded. 60 lumens now instead of 20, and still only $20! I've always had a hard time recommending a headlamp to my non-flashophile friends because the only choices out there were either hit-or-miss no-name stuff or...
