What exactly does the break in function do on the Maha C9000. I currently have a Powerex MH-C801D which is my main AA charger (really a great charger) but the C9000 has me interested. The break in thing caught my eye but what does it do? Just charge, discharge, then charge again?

After I got my switch going I still had flickering too. I took the switch back out, flipped the little spring on the size over and put it back in. No flickering and it works great.
I have a Surefire E2DL and the TK11 R2 (not to mention the Olight M20 Warrior R2).
The E2DL throws just as far as the TK11 R2 (If not farther). But it doesn't have as much spill, pretty much all throw. But no wasy is the TK11 R2 double the lumens of the Surefire.

Mine was tough to get out. I used a set of square jaw pliers. If you mash down on the rubber you'll feel that it's square inside. I got the pliers and put them on the square part and was able to unscrew it. My courage was boosted since I did have Mr. Malkoff on the phone with me at the time...
The switch will come out. It unscrews counter clockwise from the back. You'll feel like you are going to tare the rubber but mine came out.

To answer your question (and not be a smarta$$) Yes the R2 should be brighter and for only the $5.00 difference to me it would be what I would buy.
But, in use you most likly wouldn't see the difference. Maybe in a side by side between the Q5 version vs the R2 version you might see the R2 is...
