    LEO Duty Light

Strion LED (rechargeable, 3 levels and double click for strobe) as regular belt carry, Surefire E1B as backup, Streamlight SL20X or Catapult V2 as door knocker. Catapult is new but the others have been 100% reliable in daily use.

    Zebralight H51

Re: Zebralight H51 details/preorder!!! Recieved mine today; Shorty66 pictorial overview is quite helpful. I won't have a chance to take it into the woods for a few weeks, but the brief inhouse test contrasting between a Saint minimus and the 501w were interesting... a good deal more throw that...

    Do you carry spare batteries?

No and yes... always a spare flashlight on me, batteries and another spare in my work, vehicle, trail, bike, etc... bags. The best carrier is a spare light. Two is one, one is none philosophy.

Quark AA² R5 Tactical Or Not?

I like the regular, since it operates similar to my Fenix models, but I use the $9 tactical cap for improved EDC activation, especially with gloves, but still have the original tail cap if tail standing during a prolonged power outage becomes desireable. Can't really go wrong either way.

    4Sevens Quark regular AA2 R5 Vs Fenix LD20 R4?

Having both, I agree with all the comments, both top shelf, though a bit different: LD20: + less battery slop, won't roll, has better throw and tighter beam, good run times, never had a defective Fenix, low not low enough? AA2: + much better accessories provided, like the lower lows - moon &...

    folding "survival" knife suggestions

Might want to check out the Benchmade Griptilian series, specifically the H20 model; light and sturdy; well under $102 if you shop. Equipped.org has a good overview of folding pocket knife attributes. I've beat the snot out of these knives and they seem indifferent. Just my .02$...

    Hard duty "camp" knife?

Agree with the Glock knives being a solid choice, not the most fun to baton with. Ka-bar Becker makes very tough knives that fit your criteria and price points; the only thing the lack is a textured grip which can be easily modified if that is a preference. The 5" comes with a kydex sheath and...

LEO'S: How useful is strobe in the "real world"?

It varies widely. Mostly effective at causing a mental processing pause sometimes imbalance, rarely submission, which most focused criminals can train through. Similarities to the effect of tasers can be drawn; don't rely on it, though it is often helpful. The don't tase me bro mantra is...

    Backup LED Flashlight

At work: Primary either Stiron LED or SF E2DL in a belt holster. Backup was the E1B, but now is a Quark regular 123 with their tactical forward clicky - more levels, can preset for night low & toggle up through the levels, or preset tight for turbo to strobe, with a mildly milled surface and...

    Zebralight H51

Re: Zebralight H51 details/preorder!!! Zenster, having also recently purchased the H501w, I too find it the ideal reading headlamp mainly because of the neutral tint, though the flood pattern is another key factor. All my other lights are standard cooler tint and make reading less enjoyable by...

    Streamlight Twin-Task 3C review

First post - congrats! FWIW, I purchased a Streamlight twin task 3C years ago, and though a solid light, may I suggest you probe the various reviews since the offerings LED lights today have raised the bar substantially - this thread was from 2003?:welcome: Sorry, don't know the answer to...

    Fenix HL20 vs Zebralight 501W

A little off track, but I recently received the H501w and an informal comparison to my Saint supported the comments about the Zebra in "natural" tint. The H501w assembly of the switch area was a little off, though I have not water/rain tested, worked flawlessly, producing a clean broad warm...

    Fenix LD20 or surefire P6

1st post, welcome. New here too. I have both of the lights you ask about and agree that they are both good lights but neither will be effective at 100y. I would consider a light that runs cr123as or a 18650, and the Fenix TK11 might be a good choice, though it is not a pocket light; the...

    Which Surefire for EDC??

Have Surefire's: L1, E1B, E2DL, & 6P. What makes a nightstand light doesn't make for a great EDC necessarily. I find for pocket EDC the lower it rides in the pocket with a clip the less likely to snag a fall out, and tactical switches can accidentally be activated when sitting depending on...

ThruNite Catapult V2 (SST-50) Updated Review: RUNTIMES, BEAMSHOTS, and more!

Just wanted to say thank you to Selfbuilt for his objective and comprehensive reviews, CPF moderators and members for their enthusiastic, yet professional comments. Though I've been using a Streamlight SL20 since for nearly two decades at work, and hoping they'd update it in a more timely...
