Surefire A2L Review: Beamshots & Pics! Updated 8/9

Yes, there has indeed been a comparison of the A2 color variants. In fact, it's one of the best LED/color rendering/beam pattern/etc. comparisons I've seen on these boards: greenLED's comparison of A2 LED colors. And it's just one among many of the wonderful threads out there devoted to the...

Surefire A2L Review: Beamshots & Pics! Updated 8/9

As noted by Bullzeyebill, the A2 operates such that the secondary emitters are activated in both modes of operation. It's been a while since I handled an A2L, but I believe it's the same. The wisdom in this design for the incandescent model is that you aren't left in the dark when operating on...

    Color Rendition Comparative Photos

Wow, fantastic review! These are the sort of comparison shots that really ought to be included in the otherwise thorough flashlight reviews that are posted around here. Now I kind of feel like doing this same sort of comparison with my own lights, perhaps quantifying (well, ish) my subjective...

    M60 beam

My M60 has a similar dark ring around the hotspot, though it's less pronounced. My main beef with my M60 is the stinking dark spot at the center of the hotspot. White wall hunting, this dark spot is dreadfully obvious, and rather painful to look at. During actual use, though, it's much less...

ICON Modus 1 and Modus 2

Hm, that's certainly too bad... It won't keep me from trying one of these out, but I sure wish they had gone with a less noticeable PWM. I look forward to reading your reviews when I get the chance... (Thanks for doing them, by the way!)

    EMS Orange Malkoff MD2!!!

Yeah, I saw that thread (well, both the one where it was initially done, and the one about batteries leaking due to the not-thoroughly-dried dye). Definitely gave a unique and cool look to some of those lights, though I'd prefer not to have to worry about hazardous chemicals and potentially...

    EMS Orange Malkoff MD2!!!

I got that same e-mail, and it caught my attention as well. Truth is, I had very little desire to get an MD2, as I prefer the styling and features of the equivalent SureFire hosts. However, now that the MD2 is available in bright orange, I just might have to add it to my to-buy list. Only thing...

    Surefire problem

New batteries would definitely be one thing I would try. Another standard step in troubleshooting is to clean all the contacts. Otherwise, it could be that the tailcap or lamp module (P60? P60L? aftermarket?) is faulty. If you have another light compatible with the 6P, try swapping tailcaps...

What is your longest/farthest throwing light?

Wow... I feel so out of place here... Sadly enough, my best thrower is my C2 w/ Malkoff M60. Well, my Mag 3D with Terralux drop-in might have slightly higher lux, but the M60's throw is definitely more useful. Not that either of those are slouches, to be sure (certainly not compared to "normal"...

How about surefire C2L Led flashlight?

WOW!! My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets upon seeing that beamshot... Now if only I were into lithium rechargeables...

You might be a Flash-a-holic if...

    - The first thing you notice about your friend's video game is that his character's flashlight has poor beam quality. - You can identify the LED your cell phone uses for it's camera's flash (Nichia 021). - You read the movie title "The Secret of Nimh" as "The Secret of Nickel-Metal Hydride"...

How about surefire C2L Led flashlight?

Well, I sure don't want to derail discussion here, but DimeRazorback - I must know: What on Earth is that drop-in in your C2? Am I behind the times? Am I negligent and a failure as a flashaholic for not recognizing that module? What sort of output and beam distribution does it have? It looks...

How about surefire C2L Led flashlight?

I'd have to agree with everyone else here. The C2's a great host, but don't bother with the LED version, as it just costs more and you'll end up wanting to replace the P60L module anyway. So yeah, get a C2 and some form of aftermarket LED drop-in. The Malkoff modules are top quality with beam...

You become a true FLASHAHOLIC when?

You read the movie title "The Secret of Nimh" as "The Secret of Nickel-Metal Hydride", and it takes you a moment of wondering why there's a movie about battery chemistry before you realize you spend a little too much time accessorizing your flashlights.

perfect beam from flood to spot

Just in case you're looking for a fixed-focus light with a perfect spot-to-flood pattern, I'd recommend Malkoff's M60/M30 modules with the F (flood) optic. In my experience, this is one of the best throw/flood compromise beams out there, and is PERFECTLY seamless from its gorgeous spill to its...
