Let's forget about NOMINAL 1.5V.I don't use it loads nor for long runtimes. But the bulb has been in there for about a year so far. They are Eneloops, so 7 x 1.2v rather than 7 x 1.5v. Not sure if this would make a difference or not.
I've been thinking about trying 2 x 26800 Li-ion, as that should also be 8.4v nominal voltage, only require a small spacer to make them the same length as 3 x D cell. But much higher capacity than using the Eneloops.Let's forget about NOMINAL 1.5V.
Alkaline drops to 1.2V. at maximum of 1 Amp draw and NiMH also hold it's 1.2 volt at up to 4~5 Amps. So voltage under load is 1.2 volt.
Each D cell has length of about 60mm so you have 180mm space for batteries.I've been thinking about trying 2 x 26800 Li-ion, as that should also be 8.4v nominal voltage, only require a small spacer to make them the same length as 3 x D cell. But much higher capacity than using the Eneloops.
What is a pr magnum star?
Try it, you'll see what i mean, PR based flashlight krypton and xenon bulbs are different animals compared to PR base halogens. they can be overdriven, halogens instaflash.I can't make any guarantees without trying it myself, but I don't see why it would instaflash on first use.
Identical to the ebay ks5r1.7.View attachment 33927
this is second generation of magnum star, xenon, 1st generation of magnum stars are kripton. easy to tell apart, 2nd gen has this cylindrical envelope.
Are these first generation? They say krypton.View attachment 33927

the top one looks fake to me, that is not proper maglite logo and packaging. the bottom one is a new bipin bulb,Are these first generation? They say krypton.

Are these third generation then? They look newer and are labeled xenon.

The top package is an old Maglite package. Can't give a timeframe but definitely was in used in the late 80s and early 90s.the top one looks fake to me, that is not proper maglite logo and packaging. the bottom one is a new bipin bulb
